MIC MOULTON GETS BACK ON TRACK

Mic Moulton is excited to be returning to action on Saturday, April 28th at Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka, Calif. Moulton will take his first turn behind the wheel, in nearly two years, in the 100-lap North State Challenge Series first race of 2007.

The 30-year-old driver is no stranger to Redwood Acres, where he started racing in the Mini-Stock class in 1994. Moulton won the Mini-Stock championship in 1995. After stepping up the racing ladder to super late models, he scored his first NSCS win in 2004 at Ukiah Speedway. Since then, Moulton has made infrequent starts in the series, mostly due to monetary concerns.

“We’ve been building this new car for over two years now and I think we’ve finally got it put together,” he said recently. “It’s a beautiful piece! It’s a chassis that Scott Teasley built for us and we’ve got a DEI Busch series engine that Bill Binns rebuilt. We’re hoping to be able to shake the bugs out of it pretty quickly. I can’t wait!”

While Moulton hasn’t raced much for a couple years, he has been a familiar face at NSCS races, serving as a tech official and, several times, as Race Director. “I’m glad to have been able to help the series, but I’ll be even more glad to have a firesuit on instead of one of those yellow and black (official’s) shirts,” he said.

By day, Moulton is the General Manager of the Eureka branch of Fastenal. “Fastenal is the largest distributor of fasteners in the nation and they have a rich history in racing,” he says. “They sponsored (the late) Bobby Hamilton, in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and they currently sponsor Ken Schrader’s truck. I’m really pleased to have the Fastenal colors on my car and I appreciate their support!”

In addition to Fastenal, Moulton’s sponsors include, Northwood Chevrolet, Bettendorf Trucking, Harbor Trophies, Teasley Race Cars, Bill Binns Racing Engines, Joiner Motorsports, Left Coast Vinyl Graphics and Rosewood Body Shop.
