HUNTINGTON BEACH, California -- The Toyota of Escondido/NEO Synthetic Oil sponsored team of Myers Racing did not obtain the finish they were hoping for as they defended their 2006 title at the Phoenix International Raceway last Thursday.
Andrew Myers qualified 3rd for the Alphatrade 150 NASCAR Grand National West Series race. Myers had the car to beat for half the race, leading 19 laps before an oil leak caused the team to get black-flagged. Myers ended the night with a 26th place finish. “We had high hopes for this race, unfortunately things happen and you can’t continue the lead position when unfortunate issues arise,” said Myers following the race.
While in Phoenix, Myers Co-Hosted the RACING ROUND UP radio show with guests; Ward Burton, Paul Menard and Johnny Sauter. RACING ROUND UP is a weekly radio show broadcast on 1310 KXAM in Phoenix and is the longest running racing show on the West Coast, celebrating their 10-year anniversary this year in 2007.
Next race is the NASCAR West Series 200 at Altamont Motorsports Park on Saturday, April 28th. The Altamont track is an oval shape ½ mile track with 8 to 12 degree angles. “We are continuously working out the bugs on the car and are excited to show our work at the next race. With the continuous detailed work put into this car, we expect it to show at this race. Hopefully we will be able to lead the pack and finish with better results.” said Myers crew chief Ben Walker.
