FORTUNA, CA -- (April 24, 2007) – Mother Nature did not cooperate with the originally planned season opener for the North State Challenge Series Presented by Scottfield Executive Hotels on April 14th, forcing the postponement of the Shasta Raceway Park event.
If all goes well, the series opener will take place this Saturday night at Redwood Acres Raceway in Eureka, Calif., a 3/8ths mile banked oval, and if all goes well, the extra preparation time could be a benefit to Luke Hall, driver of the No. 36 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, and the Turnbull Motorsports team.
The Fortuna, Calif., based Super Late Model team took the extra time to work on their car and conduct a test session at the site of this week’s race, turning some impressive laps.
“We worked on a lot of set-up things with the race car,” Hall said. “We are happy with our lap times, and I felt very comfortable in the car. Now, we just want to get into some racing action. We had a good performance here last year, and I am confident all the hard work we’ve put in to get ready will pay off.”
Redwood Acres was indeed a turning point for Hall’s season last year. In a late July race, Hall garnered one of his two Top Five finishes in the NSCS. Two weeks later, he road that momentum to a win in Lakeport as he held off two-time defending series champion Mike Doss for the checkered flag. Catching his stride over the second half of last season, Hall finished seventh in the overall points championship.
