LYNCH TAKES THE CRAFTSMAN NASCAR KNOCK-OUT

ERIE, Colorado -- Driving an unsponsored Dodge Ram, Bear Lynch passed Ronnie Hults on lap 15 of the Snap-On Tools Pro Truck main event Saturday night at Colorado National Speedway. Ed Vecchiarelli took the SUNOCO Race Fuels Grand American Modified Main Event. After a huge legends wreck, Tyler Chrisinger took the RMLRA Legend Car feature. Paul Deines got around Gary Land late to win the Motorsports News Modified Coupe main event, and Nick Martinez took the Whittar Racing School Bus race.

The Legend feature had Darrell Stewart and Mike Murr on the front row. Danny Medina jumped into the early lead over Terry Plummer, Kyle Clegg, Stewart and Mike Webber. Tom Hansen spun and continued on lap 2. Keith Law cracked into the top 5 on lap as he passed Webber. On lap 15, Wayne Barlock Jr lost a motor in turn 3 laying down oil and collecting Bert Chapman and Scott Miller. The leaders came to the oil and got collected in the wreck as Plummer, Medina and Clegg all slammed into the wall and tires went flying. Stewart now led over Law, Tyler Chrisinger, Jace Hansen and Rick Rusk. Law passed to the inside on the restart and passed Stewart for the lead. Luck Sweckard and John Jolly tangled for a lap 17 caution. Law and John Baker were penalized for passing to the inside of the previous restart putting Stewart back in front over Chrisinger. Hansen took second on lap 19 and tried everything to get around Chrisinger. Hansen got under Chrisinger on the last lap, but Chrisinger held on for the win over Hansen, Stewart, Baker and Law.

Jim Weese and Dean Carr were on the front row for the Modified Coupe main event. Kevin Young spun for a complete restart and Gary Land led the first lap over Richie Sherrill. David Johnson flew into the top 5 and Joseph St. Peter was fifth on lap 6. Land now led Sherrill, Johnson, Deines and St. Peter. On lap 9, officials started to stop scoring Johnson as he failed to adhere to the black flag for smoking. Carl Vair was now fifth, and Deines took second on lap 14. Two laps later, Deines took the lead and led the rest of the way for his second win of the season. Land was second over Sherrill, St. Peter and Vair.

Tom Evans and Marc Ferguson were the front row for the Grand American Modified feature. The race needed a complete restart after Jon Lincicome and Mike Castagno tangled. Ed Vecchiarelli led the first lap over Evans. Contact sent Evans towards the wall, and fortunately Evans saved it the best he could and clipped the wall. Lincicome and Castagno tangled again also for the caution. Ed Vecchiarelli Jr was sent to the back for his part in the incident. Vecchiarelli led on the restart over Ronnie Stringfellow, Nathan Gasser, Jeff Purvis and Jeff Hansen. Hansen took fourth on lap 5 and Justin Case got around Purvis for fifth on lap 6. On lap 23, Mike Bernard spun for a caution, then another caution flew for debris. Lynch led the final 7 laps to win the feature ahead of Hults, Burton, Lynch and Kellogg.

The final event of the night was the School Bus race. The field lined up and caution flew as Troy Whittar was still not on the track. The bus drivers didn’t realize they were throwing the caution and not the green flag and were 5-wide at the line. The busses continued racing and Kurt Weyand helped Don Callender go on his side. Weyand and Callender were both done. Nick Martinez led the first lap, when the green was finally thrown over Wendy Sutherland and Troy Whittar. On lap 4, Sutherland broke down and Whittar was now second over Joseph Andrade and Jerry Sutherland. Andrade got around Whittar late and Martinez won over Andrade, Whittar, J Sutherland and W Sutherland. Martinez jumped out of his bus and started climbing the fence.
