SCHMIDT ROCK SOLID IN FOLSOM READY MIX 50Golden State Racing’s Eric Schmidt started from the pole and never looked back to win The Folsom Ready Mix 50 for the Late Models Saturday night at The All American Speedway. Schmidt in his #05 AT&T/ Yellowpages .com/ Monte Carlo, had the car to beat again and proved it by leading all 50 laps for his third consecutive victory of the new season. Rounding out the top five, it was Jim Courage Jr. second, John Moore third, Gary Glenn fourth and Bobby Grewall was fifth.

Earlier in the day, with a green track and windy conditions, Schmidt was the fast qualifier at 13.476 with a fast speed of 89.046mph. Courage Jr. was second at 13.535, Moore was third at 13.563.

Gary Glenn was the RPM Indoor Cart Racing Hard Charger of the race for advancing the most positions from start to finish, his third such award already this year.

In the Street Stock Division, Mickey Owens, starting from the eighth position, In the four car/four lap trophy dash your winner was Phil Wilkins. Wade was second, Ahl third, and Whitfield was fourth.

John (Nitro Norris) Cummings won the B Main followed by James Shelton Sr, Tom Bolin, Steve Frasier Sr. and David Thompson.

In the Modified division, Eddie Laws was the top qualifier with a time of 13.589 / 86.585mph. In the A Main, Rich Lindgren, starting from the second position, took the lead on lap two and held that position until Scott Winters eventually passed him on lap 21. From that point it was all Winters, as he brought his #24 car home to victory. Lingren finished second, Laws was third, Jim Miller fourth, and Jay Linstroth was fifth.

In the B Main, your winner was Derrick Doering. didn’t lead a lot of laps but led the last three on his way to victory. Ray Mood led for thirteen of the thirty-five lap main event and ultimately settled for second. Dick Meadows was third. Followed by Dan Farrington fourth and Jeff Ahl fifth.

In qualifying, Ahl was fastest with a time of 15.194 at 78.978 mph, Doug Wade was second (15.238/78.750 mph), Josh Whitfield was third (15.269/78.590 mph).

In the Bomber Division, Mike Sherrill turned in a qualifying time of 15.956/ 75.206mph. Sherrill was the only qualifier to break into the 15 second mark. The Trophy Dash was won by Mike Kelly.

In the A Main, Mike Kelly looked strong in the early going and took the lead on lap one and then again on lap three. Kelly kept his car in clean air till lap forty when he was overtaken by Richard Anable. From that point it was a battle for second between Kelly and Eric Bocksberger with Bocksberger finishing second, Kelly third, Johnny Vega fourth and Keith Hopkinson Sr. was fifth. Brothers Todd and Troy Clapham finished sixth and seventh respectively.
