YOUNG & BRATTOLI WIN AT SRP

ANDERSON, California -- Redding drivers Guy Young in the Modifieds and Joe Brattoli in the Street Stocks walked away the money in their respective main events on Saturday Night at Shasta Raceway Park. Young won $1000 for his win in the 80 lap Modified feature while Brattoli took home $400 for his win in the 60 Street Stock feature. Ken Gifford from Cobb came home the winner in the 25 lap Pro-4 Modified main event and Anderson's Sean Vallon made it two in a row in the Hornet Division.

Young grabbed the lead from pole sitter Kelly Peacock on lap 7 and held off the challenges of Kevin Brink and Charlie Kramm. Brink dogged Young from lap 10 until lap 50 before Kramm made an inside move into second, Kramm tried every trick in the book over the last 30 laps to try and wrestle the lead away from Young. Young who continues to be one of the smoothest drivers in the division, fended of the challenges that included two late race cautions to preserve the victory, Kramm finished right on his bumper followed by Brink, Jack Epperson and Peacock. Scott Winters who set fast time and was one of the pre race favorites was involved in a wreck on lap 19 with Epperson and Ukiah Speedway visitor Corey James, unfortunatly Winters sustained damage to the car was done for the night.

Brattoli like Young grabbed the lead early and was never challenged as he raced to the win, Brattoli made the winning pass on lap 5 overtaking Brian Smith and lead the remaining 55 laps for his first win of the year. Kyle Borden finished a strong second, but ran out of laps as he tried in vain to run Brattoli down. Mike Wright finished third followed by David Braund and Roseville visitor Mickey Owens

Ken Gifford took the lead away from Jake Tillman on lap 7 and lead the rest of the way for the win, Tillman hung on for second over Greg Van Cleave, Willie Leuzinger and Andrew Snider.

In the Hornet division it was Vallon taking the win over Bill Swaney, Bo Nickelsen, Alvin Gitchell and Jamey Moog.
