SCHMIDT IS IT! THREE-PEATS!ALL AMERICAN SPEEDWAY IN ROSEVILLE

With an invert of eight, half the field, the veteran Schmidt started mid-pack in the A Main and used patience to work his way to the front on lap 60, leading the field to the checkered flag the remainder of the race. “It was a great race and I just tried to let it come to me” he said afterward. “Thanks to all the fans, my Crew Chief Frank Jordan and my entire crew and all of my sponsors who help me do what I love to do!” Rounding out the top five were: Jim Courage Jr. second, Bobby Grewohl third, Gary Glenn fourth, and Bennie Moon was fifth. The RPM Indoor Kart Racing Hard Charger Award went to Jim Courage Jr. for advancing the most positions from start to finish. The Late Model Trophy Dash was won by John Moore followed by Courage Jr., Paul Harraka and Eric Schmidt. Earlier in the day in qualifying, under clear skies with just a hint of a breeze, no track record was safe in any division. Schmidt’s fast time set a new track record for the late models at 13.430/ 89.351mph, Courage Jr. was second at 13.447, John Moore was third at 13.484. Eric Schmidt will attempt to make it four in a row on June 2nd as The All American Speedway hosts The JM Environmental Late Model 75! In the visiting Legends division, Redding’s Zach Kavert was your winner in the A Main. Johnny Morrissey, starting from the pole was strong and looked as if he might drive away early. He led the first eighteen laps. A problem on lap 18 dropped him from the top 10. Kavert took the lead on lap 19 and never looked back. The win was his third in row and makes four wins in the last four races for Jr. Brothers Racing. At the line it was Kavert, Johnny Morrissey second, Johnny Green Jr. third, seventeen year old Frankie Marks and sixteen year old Makena Bell, both drove a solid race and finished fourth and fifth respectively. Johnny Green Jr., currently leads the nation in road race points for the Legends, after finishing second at the World Road Racing Finals at Infineon last year. In qualifying, Kavert’s fast time of 15.397/ 77.936mph set a new track record for the Legends at AAS. Bell was second at 15.425, Green Jr., who previously held the record, was third at 15.482. Frankie Marks won the Trophy Dash for the Legends. Green was second, Kavert third, and Bell was fourth. Jack Humphrey was your winner in the B Main. In the Legend heat races your winners were: Heat 1 David Ball, Heat 2 Kelly Martin, and Heat 3 was won by Johnny Green Jr. You’ll consistently see great racing action from the Legends Division the next time they visit the All American Speedway on June 9th! Don’t miss it! In the WSRA Baby Grand Division, Jake Smith out-dueled Justin Wall to win a well driven A Main for the Baby Grands. The leader Justin Henry tangled with the second place car of point’s leader Michael Ray on the last lap in turn 4 and spun, leaving Ray to cross the line first. NASCAR officials sent Ray to the back post finish and declared Smith the winner. Henry was the fast qualifier with a lap of 14.602/ 82.180 mph, yet another new AAS track record. Jake Gomes was second at 14.872, Jake Smith was third at 14.918. Justin Henry won the Baby Grand Trophy Dash. Ray was second, Jake Gomes third, Jake Smith fourth, Cole Farrow fifth, and Michael Sandoval was sixth. In the WSRA Minicup division, Josh Gomes battled Jarrett Kelly for twenty-three laps and made his move on lap twenty-four to win the 25 lap A Main. Kelly finished second, Shane Lawrence was third, Robbie Roy fourth, and Tyler Thomas fifth. In the Minicup Trophy Dash, Tyler Thomas, starting from the third position, made his move on lap 4 to take the lead and brought home the win. Gomes crossed second, Mychal Tripoli was third, Kelly fourth, and Lawrence fifth. In the Minicup B Main, a tool used to give some of the less experienced young drivers some seat-time, William Camara was your winner. John Bowman was second, Max Unterbach third, Taylor Fields fourth, and Dylan Hutchison was fifth. WSRA returns to the All American Speedway May 26th!
