YAKIMA, Washington -- On Saturday night May 26, 2007, the long standing tradition of the ASA Aero Exhaust Northwest Tour stock car racing on the super fast 1/2-mile of Yakima Speedway continues. The premier northwest stock car drivers will be on hand to meet the challenge. The winner of the Matco Tools 125 presented by Trux Etc. will add their name to the long list of the best in the northwest. Yakima Speedway has had the best of the best rise to the top over the 23 years of hosting the Northwest Tour.
Yakima Speedway, Yakima, Wash. brings the ASA Northwest Tour to town on Memorial Day weekend for 125-laps on the 1/2-mile oval. Race #2 of the 8-race season for the NWT brings back together a great field of drivers. NWT opening race winner at South Sound Speedway’s 3/8-mile oval, Tom Sweatman (Cosmopolis, WA) moves on to a track he also favors. Others that will have a lot to say about the outcome are local aces Travis Bennett (Ellensburg, WA), Mike Longton (Moxee, WA), BJ Tidrick (Yakima, WA) and Erick Hargraves (Yakima, WA). Former NWT Champions Ron Eaton (Spanaway, WA), Garret Evans (E.Wenatchee, WA), Kelly Tanner (Auburn, WA) and Gary Lewis (Bothell, WA) have had a lot of success at Yakima during their respective careers.
Some of the other northwest major league racers expected are Brandon Riehl (Boring, OR), Jay Sauls (Puyallup, WA), Jason Fraser (Snohomish, WA), Jeff Barkshire (Auburn, WA), Matt Hall (Spokane, WA) and Kevin Moland (Spokane, WA) among others.
