DANIEL, SNELL AND NESMITH WIN TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Lucas Oil ASA Modified series had 31 cars time in for the 22 positions available in the 75-lap A-main. Danny Gay set fast time with Jason Patison qualifying second. The B-main was won by Doug Carpenter while Larry Gerchman, Paul Pedronchelli, Jr, and Randy Ussery picked up the final three transfer spots. Randy Forbis and Chris Gerchman had to take provisionals. Gay lead the first quarter of the race before Patison took over the lead. Jerry Snell was reeling in Patison and looked poised to assume the lead before a red flag was thrown with about 30 laps left. Upon the race resuming Snell was unable to start his car and had to be pushed off the track briefly and returned to the track after the race had gone green. The absence of Snell allowed Patison to go on and win his second 2007 ASA Modifed Series feature. Forbis came from last to finish second with Jimmy Dickerson third, Gay fourth and Gechman fifth. The night was not a total loss for Snell as he won the Modified Track Championship. The Late Models saw a fierce battle between Ron Daniel and Chris Gerchman as both drivers had the track and River Series championships on the line. Daniel had an 8 point lead coming into the race over Gerchman in the track championship and both drivers were tied in the River Series. Daniel started on the pole and assumed the led with Gerchman coming up to second. Gerchman aggressively tried to get around Daniel on more than one occasion, with each instance resulting in the drivers getting together and bringing out the yellow. Through stiff warnings from the track both drivers settled down, however Thane Alderman was able to take the lead after the first caution and held on for the win. Daniel finished second and Gerchamn third. The second place finish gave Daniel the track and River Series Championships. Ted Nesmith finished fourteenth in the Factory Stock main event, however the finish was enough for him to claim the Factory Stock Track Championship over Andrew Kimmons. Havasu 95 Speedway would like to thank all the racers and fans who participated at the Speedway this season. The 2007-2008 schedule is almost complete and should be available by the beginning of July. The first race of the 2007-2008 racing season will be in early September.
