CALISTOGA, California -- With a 2nd place finish at Skagit Speedway the weekend before, Tayler Malsam made his first trip down to the historic Calistoga Speedway in California, looking for some half mile experience. There he picked up his first top ten finish with Golden State 410 Sprint Series.
On Saturday night, the 18 year old drove his Rudeen Racing / Fire-Down Graphics #26 car into a 12th place qualifying spot. Transferring out of his heat Tayler drove the Malsam Motorsports / Coca- Cola sponsored 26 car to an 11th place finish in the A-main.
Sunday night , Tayler was fast right out of the box qualifying 6th at a time of 17.031 seconds around the big dirt half mile. As his confidence built, Tayler took home a 2nd place finish in the heat which set him up to start on the pole of the dash . After getting a great start ,former King of California Champions Brent Kaeding and Jonathon Allard passed the # 26 car to give Tayler a solid 3rd place finish in the dash. Malsam then drove his Maxim Chassis / Shark Racing Engines 410 sprinter to a 7th place finish. “Our goal was to get some ½ mile experience and come out of here with a good finish, and we did both of those this weekend” said Malsam.
This weekend Tayler and his Rudeen Racing / Fire –Down Graphic team will head to Irwindale Speedway where Malsam will trade dirt for asphalt as he jumps into his # 26 stock car. Young Tayler will try to continue his early success at the famed southern California oval.
