HOT NIGHT OF ACTION AT EVERGREEN SPEEDWAY

MONROE, Washington -- A hot June night provided the stage for even hotter action as six classes of cars put on an evening of entertainment. Naima Lang and Darin Stordahl mixed it up early in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Speedway Chevrolet Super Stocks 50-lap main event. Both were relegated to the rear of the fifteen-car field for the restart on lap four. By the time it was over Lang had managed to salvage a third place finish with the nose of his car dragging and Stordahl finishing close behind for fourth. Roger Habich had a shot at race leader John Zaretzke on a late caution but Zaretzke was in a groove and had his Hoosier clad car on a rail. Picking up his fourth straight win Zaretzke thanked all his sponsors and said he looked forward to the 5/8's oval race coming up on June 16.

The Les Schwab Tires Bombers once again put on a clinic for what Saturday night NASCAR short track racing is all about. Lane Sundholm raced through traffic and became embroiled in an intense four-way battle for the lead with Travis Blackwood, Brian Cottrell and Darrell Lutovsky. Former Champion Blackwood took the lead and twice Sundholm hit Blackwood hard but backed off to allow Blackwood to gather up his car and continue. Continue he did as he collected his first win of the year.

Mini Stocks provided yet another first time winner as Kenny "The Real" McCoy won his first ever Mini Stock main event. Tough luck for defending Champion Mark Weedin as he began smoking badly and had to leave the race.

Stinger Eights continued to provide the finest in Figure Eight racing action and a new points leader emerged in the guise of an old veteran. Ben "The Wizard" Chandler with a fourth place finish took the championship points lead. The win went to Mike Middelton after Sean Peters got into trouble leading and Middelton seized his opportunity and took command of the race. Greg Estes drove the race of his life winning his first ever Super Figure Eight race. His victory earned him "Little Nickel Driver of the Week" honors.####
