ARCA WEST LATE MODEL CHALLENGE SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP HEATS UP

GRAHAM, Washington --As the traveling ARCA West Q-Racing Late Model Challenge Series heads to Wenatchee Valley Super Oval in Wenatchee, Wash for race #4 of the 10-race season, the 2007 series championship battle is down to a single digit deficit. By virtue of a second place finish the last time out for Gary Lewis (Bothell, WA) and a win for Jeff Jefferson (Naches, WA) only 7-points is the separation for the championship.

Lewis had a 25-point lead before race #3 over Jefferson. A fast time and a win at Roseburg, Oregon is what Jefferson needed to whittle away at Lewis’ advantage. Jim Warn (Aurora, OR) is third in the championship chase 107-points back of Lewis.

The 2007 ARCA West Late Model Challenge Series Port City Racecars Rookie Challenge point standings has Erick Hargraves (Yakima, WA) with just a 2-point edge on Warn followed by Joe McNeil (Sumner, WA).

The companion traveling series with the AWLMCS is the ARCA West Truck Series. The point chase is a good one between Brothers Steve (W. Richland, WA) and Rick (Prosser, WA) Thompson. They are tied for the 2007 championship with each getting a win so far this season. Third place 50-points back is Jerry Chester (Prosser, WA).

Race #4 will be the second of three visits to the extremely fast high banked 1/4-mile oval of WVSO. Lewis went wire to wire for the win at the first race on May 24, 2007 at WVSO. Lewis says, “WVSO is a favorite track of mine and I seem to always do well there. I am really looking forward to getting back there.” Conversely Jefferson said, “I am found of WVSO and I have had some successes there over the years. It should be a good race between me, Lewis and Evans (Garrett Evans, E. Wenatchee, WA).”

Both the ARCA West Late Model Challenge Series and ARCA West Truck Series will be in action on Saturday night June 16 at Wenatchee Valley Super Oval, Wenatchee, Wash. It will be a 125-lap feature for the cars and a 35-lap main for the trucks. Add in a mix of local divisions to the night’s activities and it will be one of the highlights of the season.####
