YACKEY WINS THE PERFORMANCE WHEEL AND TIRE ASPHALT ASSAULTBruce Yackey powered his Greeley Automotive Machine Monte Carlo to the win in the Performance Wheel and Tire Asphalt Assault. Yackey claimed his second Wright Group Event Services main event at Colorado National Speedway this season. Ronnie Hults claimed the Snap-On Tools Pro Truck feature, and Ed Vecchiarelli Jr claimed the SUNOCO Grand American Modified main event. Chris Thompson was awarded the Loveland Goodyear Super Stock trophy after post-race inspection, and Kyle Ray claimed the RMMRA Midget race. Nick Martinez was the winner of the Witthar Racing Bus Race and Kevin Abel took the RMSLMA Scaled Late Model race.

The Scaled Late Models were the first to hit the track for their feature, and Richard Perry took the lead early. Kevin Abel took the lead on lap 2 over Mattie Whitten, Perry, Dave Kelley, and Brad Davis. Kelley took third on lap 3 and Bill Gray took fifth from Davis. Desiree Trones was out on lap 5 with an ill-sounding car. Gray got by Perry for fourth on lap 5, and Gray was third a lap later. On lap 9, Perry pushed up and Chasten Sbravati moved into fifth as Gray was now second, and chasing down Abel. Davis got by Sbravati on lap 11. Davis took fourth from Kelley on lap 18, and took third from Whitten on lap 21. Abel, who came from Canada to race, was able to hang on for the win with Gray a close second over Davis, Whitten and Kelley.

Tony Rossi jumped to the lead in the Midget race at the drop of the green flag. Rossi led his team-mate Chris Sheil, Kyle Ray, Butch Middleton, and Kyle Rayburn. Rossi, Sheil and Ray put on a driving clinic battling for the lead and smoking their tires all around the track in an awesome race. Ray took second on lap 13, but Sheil was still right there. On lap 18, a lapped car split the leaders and Ray escaped with the lead and held on for the win in the outstanding race. Ray took the win over Rossi, Sheil, Middleton and Ray.

Corey Greer shot to the early lead in the Super Stock feature, over Chris Thompson, Dennis Edwards, Darrell Smith and AJ Grasso. Thompson drove to the lead on lap 4 and Lothert was fourth ahead of Edwards on lap 5. Caution flew on lap 10 for a Damon Dickey spin. On lap 11, Smith got loose and Lothert took the third position from Smith. Lothert was second on lap 17, and then Lothert took the lead on lap 20. Thompson in only his eighth career race gave Lothert a battle, but Lothert prevailed. Lothert took the win over Thompson, Greer, Smith, and Grasso. In post-race inspection, Lothert was disqualified moving Thompson, who had an awesome run, to the top spot. Greer was second over Smith, Grasso, and Mike Cox. Connie Cox and Mario Garramone claimed the B-Mains and Dennis Edwards claimed the dash. Due to time, the dash and B-Mains were lined up by points.

Ronnie Stringfellow Jr took off early in the Grand American Modified race over Ed Vecchiarelli Jr, Jon Lincicome, Ed Vecchiarelli and Terry Tjarks. On lap 5, Vecchiarelli Jr took the lead and now led over Stringfellow, Vecchiarelli, Lincicome and Jeff Hansen. Nathan Gasser was fifth on lap 9 and fourth on lap 10. Vecchiarelli took second from Stringfellow on lap 12, and Hansen took fourth on lap 25. Vecchiarelli Jr claimed another feature over the older Vecchiarelli, Stringfellow, Hansen and Gasser. Vecchiarelli set quick time in qualifying.

Chris Leaf shot to the lead early in the Pro Truck feature over Darren Crocker. Ronnie Hults was third early on over Adam Deines and Mark Bybee. Hults took second on lap 5, and Kellogg was fifth on lap 5 as well. Hults got by Leaf on lap 9 and checked out. Danny Concelman went dirt-track racing through the infield on lap 15 to add some excitement. Hults took the win over Leaf, Deines, Crocker and Kellogg.

Mike Hannah took the early lead in the Late Model feature over Chris Atkinson, Nick Rozack, PJ Mattorano and Bruce Yackey. Rick Smith and Robert Dunlap both spun for a lap 2 caution and Randy Gastineau crashed, trying to avoid the spun card. Mattorano was third on lap 2 and Yackey was fourth on lap 4, then Smith took fifth on the next lap shuffling Rozack out. On lap 5, Mattorano and Yackey both got by Atkinson, and Mattorano was leading on lap 8. Smith took fourth from Atkinson on lap 10, and on lap 12 Yackey took second from Hannah. Ronnie Hults took fifth on lap 20 from Atkinson, and caution flew on lap 21 for Mike Hannah crashing in turn 2. Atkinson, Scotty Backman, Darren Robertson, Roger Avants, John Luck, Chris Eggleston and others had to spin or slow to miss the carnage. Mattorano broke on the restart and Smith was pinched into the wall. Yackey now led Smith, Hults, Darren Robertson from the back and Chris Eggleston. Robertson took third on lap 24 and several cars went spinning when Rozack dropped fluid on lap 25. The final 15 laps had a great battle for the lead between Yackey, Hults, and Robertson. Eggleston took fourth on lap 38 and Roger Avants took fifth late in the race. Yackey took the narrow in over Hults, Robertson, Eggleston and Avants.

Jared Wall sparked to the lead early in the Bus race, but had a small problem as he was dragging his battery. Randy Barnes never took off and finally got out of the way after 6 laps. Wall’s battery finally departed his bus on lap 2 and he pulled off. Daniel Martinez inherited the lead over Nick Martinez, Jerry Sutherland, Kurt Weyand and Troy Witthar. N Martinez too the lead on 5 and held on for the win over D Martinez, Sutherland, Weyand and Witthar.
