KENNEWICK, Washington -- Kennewick, Washington’s Mike Zamora won the 60 lap Late Model main event by a mere 6 inches over Portland’s Dan Obrist Saturday night at Yakima Speedway. Adding another win to his credit for 2007, the veteran driver made his move to the outside of the Obrist machine on the last lap of the event. Defending champion, Christopher Kalsch, made an inside move coming to the checkered, to finish in the third position by less than a foot. Three cars finishing under less than 12 inches had the big crowd on their feet. The finish was one of the best ever at the speedway. The 15 car field had great action throughout the race. Chad Bennett, running a crate motor, finished a strong fourth. Rich Peters, in his beautiful Ford Fusion, rounded out the top five.
In the H & H Furniture Hobby division, Ben St. Mary, overcame a motor change after practice, to win the main event. A strong 19 car field took the green flag. The 30 lap event had eight different leaders. A muti car wreck on the white flag lap caused scoring confusion and the final order of finish was posted after review by track officials. Twenty one cars signed in for the event, again making this division a fan favorite at the speedway. Top five were Don Klang in second followed by Marcus Maggard, Jason Huffines and Chris Van Amburg.
The Hornet main was won by Jay Younker. The popular Bump To Pass main was captured by Mike Valchick
