ANTELOPE, California -- Bill McAnally Racing’s rookie driver Eric Richardson navigated the No. 20 Midas Chevrolet Monte Carlos SS to record his fifth top-ten finish in eight starts in the NASCAR Grand National Division West Series. He is currently in eleventh in the chase for the West Series championship and only six points out of the top-ten. He is also a contender for the Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award.
Richardson qualified the No. 20 Midas Chevrolet on the outside of row five next to his teammate, Moses Smith. He held on to a top ten position until lap 20 when he lost two positions is traffic but by lap 90 of the 200-lap race event at Irwindale Speedway, Richardson had piloted the No. 20 back into the top ten. There was a mandatory halfway break at lap 101. Crew chief Roger Bracken and the Midas team made only minor adjustments to the car and put fresh right side tires. Back under green flag racing, Richardson moved his way up to the top-five by lap 115. With the leader in sight, he charged forward avoiding a white flag incident on track to bring home an eighth place finish.
NAPA hosted a hospitality tent at Irwindale Speedway. Over 600 NAPA and Midas customers, employees and store owners got to spend some time with team owner Bill McAnally and the West Series drivers from BMR prior to the race event.
