ANTELOPE, California --There was more explosive action on the track than in the air as the NASCAR Grand National Division West Series took the track at Irwindale Speedway on July 4th. A capacity crowd cheered as Bill McAnally Racing’s driver Brian Ickler piloted the No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS/NAPA Filters.com Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS to victory for the second time in less than a week.
With soaring temperature on the track, the No. 16 NAPA team came to the track carrying a lot of momentum from a win last Saturday night at Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, Oregon. Ickler qualified the # 16 NAPA car on the outside of row two. At lap 17, Ickler took the lead for the first time and battled the 2006 NGND West Series champion Eric Holmes throughout the 200-lap race. At lap 194, Ickler regained the lead and never looked back as he took the checkered flag. Not only did Ickler win the race, but he was awarded the $10,000 HDNet Performance Award for leading the most cumulative laps in the races HDNet broadcasts.
Ickler and the No. 16 NAPA team now move into 5th in the chase for the NGND West Series championship with the leader in sight. Only the series point leader and Ickler have recorded more than one win this season.
BMR would like to thank all of their race partners for their continued support. NAPA hosted a hospitality tent at Irwindale Speedway. Over 600 customers, employees and store owners got to spend some time with BMR team prior to the race event.
The next race will be at Miller Motorsports Park in Toole, Utah on Saturday July 14th. For more information on Bill McAnally Racing and our race partners, please visit our website at www.billmcanallyracing.com.![]()
