WEST CAR HITS SHASTA RACE WAY PARK

This Saturday Night at Shasta Raceway Park located at the Fairgrounds in Anderson, The West Car Late Models Series roars into town for a 100 lap feature. Also on the card are the visiting Pro-4 Modified from the coast along with our own Bombers and Hornets.

The West Car Late Models will feature some of the big hitters in the North State, local driver Kyle Cattanach will headline the show and hope to keep the out of town drivers from taking the gold away from Anderson in the ELdorado Hotel Casino West Car Tour of Champions. Drivers expected to give Cattanach a run for the money include current points leader Rookie driver Jarred Beddow from Roseville and second in points Bobby Butler from Sacramento. Both of these drivers as well as Cattanach will get a stiff challenge from many time NASCAR Track Champion Dave Byrd from Monterrey, 2005 SRL Late Model Champion Jason Fensler from Elk Grove and current Madera NASCAR Late Model points leader Ron Strimiska from Stockton.

The Pro-4 Modifieds will be making their second visit of the year to SRP, Cobb's Ken Gifford won the first event on May 12th and will be looking to make it two in a row. He can expect stiff competition from fellow Cobb driver Jake Tillman and Santa Rosa driver Greg VanCleave. Local driver Devin LaHorgue will be the only local driver in the field, LaHorgue was very impressive in his first ever race at SRP in May finishing seventh in his first ever main event at Shasta.

In the Bomber division it is shaping up to be a battle between Bobby Crowell and the team of Brattoli/Smith as both teams have won two main events so far this season. Crowell leads the points parade by 34 points over Brattoli 278 to 244. In the only class to run both ways at SRP Crowell has the setup figured to go the oposite way, where Brattoli has the setup to go the conventional way. Rookie driver Duane Hoffman is in third followed by John and Evelyn Moe in fourth and Josh Dorman in fifth. Wayne Lowe is the only other driver to win a main event this year.

The exciting yellow Hornets will also be in action buzzing around as they are bringing more cars out each night.

The front gate will open at 5:00 pm, time trials at 6:00 pm, and the racing action at 7:00 pm.

Ticket prices: Adults $14.00, Jr 13-18/Mil/Sr62+ $10.00, Youth 6-12 $5.00, Family 2 Adults and up to four youths under 18 $34.00.
