
Evergreen is pleased to announce the appearance of NASCAR Nextel Cup star Geoff Bodine for the prestigious Washington 500 weekend August 4th, 2007. Bodine, winner of the 1986 Daytona 500, and the 1991 Washington 500 (Evergreen's richest 500-lap race ever) will be competing in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series race, the "Wired X Energy Drink 150 presented by Top Food & Haggen Food".
He will join a field packed with talent and ambition. John Zaretzke leads the point's chase for the Track Championship as well as the first ever NASCAR Washington State Championship. He is followed by Naima Lang, Shane Harding, Roger Habich and Darin Stordahl. Many other talented Northwest drivers are preparing to join the growing field of Speedway Chevrolet Super Stocks in their 150-lap main event, which prefaces the NASCAR Grand National West Series Race the "NAPA 300 presented by Basalite".
Bodine's NASCAR Cup career includes 570 starts, 18 wins, 100 Top fives and 18 poles. His earnings exceed 16 million dollars. Teams that Bodine has raced for include, Junior Johnson, Rick Hendrick and Bud Moore among others.
Geoff Bodine has been involved in Bobsled design and competition with our US Olympic team. His project the "Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project" is involved in the design for the American Bobsled Team with the "Bobsled of Tomorrow" which is slated to compete in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, helping to keep the American team on the top of the international standings.
