Geoff Bodine, winner of the 1986 Daytona 500, and the 1991 Washington 500 (Evergreen's richest 500-lap race ever) will be competing in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series race, the "Wired X Energy Drink 150 presented by Top Food & Haggen Food". This race is part of the "Washington 500" at Evergreen, an event made up of three different NASCAR classes that compete for a total of 500 laps. He will be driving the #27 Lang Autosports Chevrolet previously driven by Chip Ganassi Driver Kevin Hamlin to victory in the season opener. So far this season there have been six different winners in the first twelve events. Geoff Bodine looks to improve that to seven different winners in 13 races!
Bodine's NASCAR Cup career includes 570 starts, 18 wins, 100 Top fives and 18 poles. His earnings exceed 16 million dollars. Teams that Bodine has raced for include, Junior Johnson, Rick Hendrick and Bud Moore among others.
Two-time Champion John Zaretzke leads the point's chase for the Track Championship at Evergreen as well as the first ever NASCAR Washington State Championship. He is followed by two-time Defending Champion Shane Harding who has already won one race and has had outstanding runs to close within just 42 points of Zaretzke. Naima Lang lurks just a handful of points behind Harding; in fact, just 60 points separate the top six drivers!
The Les Schwab Tires NASCAR Bombers will race in the "Central Welding 50" for points, for the very first time on the big track. They will kick off the days events showing off a field packed with the Northwest's best Street Stock drivers. Normally tackling the "Almost Too Tough to Tame" 3/8's mile-oval, Jill Lang, current points leader, along with Darrel Lutovsky, Lane Sundholm, Jim Foti and Craig Rowalt who round out the top five will continue the tight championship chase on the famed .646 mile oval. The top ten are within 40 points of Lang with point's battles raging throughout the top 25. Other veterans and first time runners this season will add to the excitement with the likes of Kelly Mann and Darin Stordahl going "both ways" in the Bomber and Super Stock races respectively.
