SHOWDOWN AT THE “BULLRING” AT LAS VEGAS FOR THE ASA SPEED TRUCK CHALLENGE

UPLAND, California -- “There will be no “gimmees” next week at the Bullring,” stated ASA Speed Truck Challenge president, Jay Rutherford. “With two-time NASCAR Busch Grand National Series champion, Randy LaJoie behind the wheel of one of our Speed Trucks, our drivers will be out to prove their skills against the seasoned veteran.” Las Vegas Motor Speedway “Bullring”, a 3/8 mile, fast track, will host the edge-of-your-seat racing ASA Speed Truck Challenge series where there will be a full field of hearty racers looking to beat one of NASCAR’s finest drivers and former Champion.

This special event race will be held in the middle of the week on Wednesday, August 8th in Las Vegas. It will be one of the hottest and highly contested 100-lap races of the season and everyone is nervous as the race for the 2007 Championship heats up. Leading points holder, Victor Pfluger in his extraordinarily fast #80 Parker Farms Dodge, isn’t planning on giving up any points lead to second place and four-time winner in 2007, Darren Young in the #18 United Racing S-10. Only four points separate the two super talented drivers as they come down to the last four races of the 2007 season. “We expect this one will make a huge difference for us,” said the 16-year-old Pfluger. “We will really be working hard for this one as we head into the break,” he continued. “With Darren on our heels, we can’t afford to make a mistake.”

ASA Speed Truck Challenge is proud to welcome Randy LaJoie, the son of five-time Danbury Race arena champion Don LaJoie as the special race-guest to climb into a Speed Truck and race against the field Wednesday night. LaJoie announced recently his intentions to start his "LaJoie Safety Tour." “I’m going on the road with my trailer and seats,” Randy LaJoie said. “I’m also going to do safety seminars. I’ve got an outstanding seat, but I’m unhappy when I see 150 cars at events and only 10 percent of them have my seat.

The two-time Busch Series champion, who also has three victories in the prestigious Busch 300 at Daytona International Speedway, said he wants to teach people how to be safe in a car. “I’ve traveled to tracks across the United States and it amazes me to see the complete disregard for safety,” LaJoie said. “They have (seat) belts with a lot of slack in them, the seats aren’t bolted properly. The materials used aren’t always the best.” LaJoie will be giving a safety seminar to all drivers at the track.

ASA Speed Truck Challenge will be taping the LVMS Bullring race for the Outdoor Channel to be aired later in 2007. It is one of the fastest growing and only west-coast racing series to be nationally televised. “We are so excited about the finish of this season as we look toward 2008,” said National Marketing Director, Bill McCloud. “ASA STC is one of the best advertising buys in the country for any company wanting to get maximum exposure and branding to over 30-million households with every broadcast,” McCloud exclaimed. “Although we are talking to some potential companies, the Title Sponsor position for the 2008 season is still open at this time. I would challenge any company looking to reach such a brand loyal national audience to give us at call,” he concluded.
