LABOR DAY WEEKEND BULLRING DEMOLITION DERBY WILL BE A BATTLE OF THE TOWING COMPANIES AT THE BULLRING AT LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY

LAS VEGAS – The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway’s final demolition derby of the 2007 season features a new date, new rules, a new payout structure and extra incentives for participants. LVMS’ 3/8-mile asphalt short track will present its final demolition derby on Saturday, Sept. 1, as part of the track's Labor Day Weekend holiday spectacular. The Sept. 1 show will include stock car racing and fireworks.

"We've hired a coordinator to recruit cars from throughout the region to participate in this event," said Chris Blair, LVMS’ vice president of racing operations. "As a result, several towing companies are teaming up with area wrecking yards, auto shops and race teams to create a bigger and better demolition derby for Labor Day weekend."

The Bullring’s demolition derby coordinator Kris Boesen has received commitments for cars from Quality Towing, Ewing Brothers Inc., Walker, Action and Fast Towing companies. In addition, Charger driver Gary Wyatt and Mike Garcia also are building cars for the event.

"Our last event suffered when another demolition derby was rescheduled against our date," continued Blair. "However, we honored our commitment to guarantee the winner's $1,000 prize and then doubled all other prizes. Demo derby participants know that we are serious about our commitment to building a program for them in Las Vegas. Entrants from Southern California, Southern Utah and Northern Arizona who have contacted us about the event."

The Sept. 1 event will pay a guaranteed purse of $1,000 to win, $500 for second, $250 for third, $150 for fourth and $100 for fifth place. In addition, drivers who pre-register by Aug. 24 will receive free entry into the event. Rules may be obtained by calling the Bullring office at (702) 632-8213 or via e-mail from Mysti Haynes (mhaynes@lvms.com). For competition and technical questions, please contact Kris Boesen at (702) 219-1068.

Spectator gates will open at 5 p.m. General admission is $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and military personnel with ID and $5 for children ages 6-12. Children five and under are free. A Family Four Pack may be purchased for $26.

The Bullring concession stand offers family-friendly $1 hot dogs, $1 soda and $1 beer every race night.
