Kennewick, Washington native Damon Lusk, in James Hylton's Reliance Tool & Manufacturing Ford, has created quite a stir in the ARCA series this year with 2 top-10 finishes as well as a pole award on the Springfield dirt mile. And he's done it all in just a handful of starts on tracks he's never seen before. And like all the rest, Charlotte will be a brand new experience for the Spartanburg, SC driver.
No doubt Lusk has been impressive in a limited number of starts, however, his biggest test will be at Charlotte where the strongest ARCA field ever assembled at the 1.5-mile superspeedway prepares to roll. Expect sons of Foyt, Hendrick, Labonte, Jarrett, and many more. "We've been consistent the past five races, and now I think we can showcase our ability due to the fact that James (Hylton) has raced at the next three tracks (Charlotte, Talladega, Atlanta) himself. We have some good baseline setups to start with, and we should be in good shape."
Lusk, originally from the state of Washington who now resides in Spartanburg, SC and is a graduate of the Nascar Southwest Series. Lusk originally moved east to fill the driving duties for the Fenley/Moore Motorsports team, but was forced to leave do to lack of funding, but since has shown sure signs of a promising race driver.
Car owner Hylton has prepared a really good race car for Lusk to run at Charlotte. "We have completely given it everything we have, day and night, the past three weeks," said Hylton. "It should be exciting; look for the familiar #48 to surprise some people."
