Tom Mikla, AKA - "Lightning McQueen" became Tucson Raceway Park's first Crate Engine powered Main Event winner on this hot balmy night with temperatures in the 90's. Mikla had sent notice last week with his heat race win that the kit was sure to be a winner and he proved tonight that the formula is here to stay. Mikla won the night's heat race again and followed with the dominating main event win over Jeremy Smith and Casey Rohrer. Bob Cramb would return to action in the bright green #66 with great sounding NASCAR cup style exhaust to finish eighth.
In the NASCAR Late Model field young Bobby Collister would see action for the first time in 2007 with his well prepared black #64 Dodge. Bobby would fight engine issues throughout the night that would relegate him to a hard fought eighth place finish in the feature. Ron Norman would be the only car to break into the 15 second range with a 15.915 to be quick time. The Trophy Dash was all Joe Paladenic over Cassie Gannis and Norman and during trophy presentation Joe would say he had a car capable of winning tonight's main as he and crew had gotten the new Hoosier's dialed in. Norman would go onto winning the first heat race from the rear as would Paladenic in the second heat.
The 50 lap main event would be led for the first six laps by Mescal's Ned Champine. Rookie of the year contender Mat Williams would take point for the next 38 laps when Paladenic whom was working the bottom groove (as usual), would slip by for one lap. William's who had been working traffic like a seasoned veteran then worked lapped traffic to perfection to retake the lead. Paladenic would be patient on the bottom and retake the lead for good on lap 48 to take the win over Williams, Champine, Butler and Gannis with her first top 5 in NASCAR Late Models.
The NASCAR Mini Stock action would see point's leader, Becky Harrington win the heat race and the main would be led flag to flag by Sierra Vista's David Bosley followed by the Toyota of Tammy Lynn and Harrington's misfiring Mercur.
The INEX Legends would again see point's leader and 2006 Champion Suave Brachowski win both the Heat and Main Event over Blake Leuth and Robert Scott.![]()
