ARCA WEST LMCS HEADS NORTH OF THE BORDERGRAHAM, Washington – Teams on both sides of the Canadian border are busy preparing their cars for the first ever appearance of the ARCA West Q-Racing Late Model Challenge Series ‘Can-Am 125’ event this Saturday at the beautiful ½-mile tri-oval of Sun Valley Speedway in Vernon, BC. Over $14,000 in cash and bonus awards is being offered to entice the most popular names of Northwestern US & Canadian late model drivers & teams.

This highly-anticipated event is the initial visit of the AW LMCS to the tricky ½- mile tri-oval located in beautiful Eastern BC Canada, and one of the highlight events on the series’ 10-race 2007 touring schedule. Of special interest will be to see how well the US drivers and teams adapt to a track that many have not seen nor set foot on. Bob Newcombe, manager of Sun Valley Speedway and AW LMCS Director of Competition Jerry Losch worked diligently in the off season to secure a 2007 race date for the Northwest’s premier Late Model touring series in hopes of establishing an annual Can-Am challenge event at this great facility.

Gary Lewis currently leads the AW LMCS championship points battle with a small margin above Jeff Jefferson of Yakima WA. The next five drivers are still in a very tight points battle also, with only 63 points separating third thru seventh. Garrett Evans of E. Wenatchee WA sits in third, Erick Hargraves of Yakima WA is the series current top Port City Racecars ‘Rookie Challenger’ in forth, followed by Brent Harris of E. Wenatchee WA, Wes Rhodes of Yelm WA, Jim Warn of Aurora OR. Rounding out the top ten is Ryan Fischer of Surrey BC, Joe McNeil of Sumner WA, and Todd Walters of E. Wenatchee. Hargraves, Warn, Rhodes, and Harris have all had multiple strong runs this season in the AW LMCS and are looking to get their first win of the season.

Canada will be well represented in this special CAN-AM 125-lap event with Canadian hotshoes Pete Harding, Bill Lawrence, Rob Angus, Wade Bland, Trevor Emond and Dean Craig competing along with additional locals. This will be Pete Harding’s and Wade Bland’s first appearance in the 2007 season. The Newalta Late Model Challenge Series, a Canada-based touring program, will also be represented by several regulars as the AW LMCS & Newalta LMCS programs have similar rule formats.

Sun Valley Speedway’s ARCA West ‘Can-Am 125’ race schedule: Hot laps start at 1pm with qualifying for all classes to begin at 6pm. Racing at 7:00pm. Front Gate opens at 5:00pm. Ticket prices: $20.00 adult, $15.00 youth & seniors. Additional classes running Saturday: Western Canadian Super Series, NASCAR Whelen All-American Street Stocks, and Dwarf Cars.####
