LAS VEGAS – Six former winners of the Smith’s Las Vegas 350 and the 1995 Indianapolis 500 winner are among the entries for the Sept. 22 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Jacques Villeneuve, who won at Indy in 1995 and later captured the Formula I World Championship, is set to make his NASCAR debut in a truck prepared by long-time NASCAR team owner Bill Davis.
But the Canadian driver will have plenty of competition. Defending race champion Mike Skinner, 2005 winner Todd Bodine, 2003 winner and Las Vegan Brendan Gaughan, 2002 winner David Starr, 2001 champ Ted Musgrave and two-time (1996 and 1998) winner Jack Sprague all are entered in the event.
Other notable entries include former NASCAR Busch Series champion Johnny Benson, current ESPN analyst Stacy Compton and NASCAR veteran Kenny Wallace.
This year’s event will be a one-day event with qualifying set for 3 p.m. and the green flag scheduled for 6:15 p.m. SPEED will televise the event live.
