
Vista Paint Super Stocks
Bryan Harrell of Riverside took the lead on lap 15 from Larry Sampson of Covina to win Saturday night’s (September 22) Vista Paint Super Stock race at Irwindale Speedway. Division leader Darren Cheek of San Bernardino finished second while Sampson finished third in the 30-lap race. Greg Crutcher who started the race third in division points, 26 behind the leader, dropped out of the race with a mechanical problem on the 6th lap. Thirteen cars finished on the lead lap.
Legends Cars
Gary Scheuerell of Murietta won his first Legends Cars race of the season Saturday night (September 22) at Irwindale Speedway. Division leader Darren Amidon of Santee finished in second place and Mark Borchetta of Valencia finished in third place. Tom Landreth started the race 20 points behind Amidon but his chances of catching Amidon to defend his division crown are in jeopardy after an incident on lap 18 with Donny St. Ours which sent bother drivers to the back of the field. Landreth finished in 12th position. Eighteen cars of the twenty car field finished on the lead lap of the 30-lap race.
Justice Brothers Mini Stocks
Tom Dye of Stanton won his first Justice Brothers Mini Stock division race of the season Saturday night (September 22) at Irwindale Speedway. Steve Rogers of Riverside finished second and Eric Reed also of Riverside finished in third place. Division leader Tyler Rogers finished in fourth place. Twelve cars finished on the lead lap in the 30-lap race.
King Taco Super Trucks
Matt Hicks of Santee and division leader Pat Mintey Jr. waged a side-by-side battle for the lead during the final 20 laps of the race with Hicks prevailing to win his 7th King Taco Super Truck race of the season Saturday night (September 22) at Irwindale Speedway. The margin of victory was 0.084 seconds and the win was Hicks’ 6th in his last seven races. Mintey Jr. finished second and Ryan Reed of Newport Beach finished third. Seventeen trucks finished on the lead lap of the 40-lap race.
ACDelco Super Late Models
Competing in only his second race of the season, Claremont’s Chris Johnson started from the pole position and led the entire race to win the ACDelco Super Late Model division 50-lap feature race at Irwindale Speedway Saturday night (September 22). Rookie Travis Thirkettle of Newhall finished in second place and Nick Joanides of Woodland Hills finished in third place. By finishing in fourth place, Rip Michels of San Fernando clinched the division championship, his fourth at Irwindale Speedway. Michels is also the Speedway’s winningest driver with 55 victories. Thirteen cars finished on the lead lap of the race.
Pick Your Part Outlaw Figure 8s
Defending division champion Tom Smith of Lakewood won his second Pick Your Part Outlaw Figure 8 race of the season Saturday night (September 22) at Irwindale Speedway. Barefoot Billy Ziemann of Bloomington finished second and division points leader Steve Stewart of Long Beach finished in third place.
