BELL PICKS UP FIRST TOP-TEN IN MELO MOTORSPORTS’ LATE MODEL

Bell competed in the one-third mile asphalt oval speedway’s NASCAR Whelen-backed Western Late Model division.

Bell ran 14th in her debut back in August.

“Crew Chief Kyle Cattanach and the Melo Motorsports crew did a great job setting up the car and making me feel comfortable,” Bell said. “It was definitely the most comfortable I have felt and I am confident that with more seat time, I'll be making more passing moves.”

Bell qualified 14th and began to move forward at the green flag for the 50 lap event.

Bell escaped disaster on lap 25, when Richard Anderson moved up the race track off of turn four, pinching Bell up against the wall.

The two remained together until Anderson spun and hit the wall in turn one.

“(Team Owner) Marty Melo was my spotter and he helped me drive out of it, but when the #24 was still into me at the flag stand, I didn't lift,” Bell said. “It was unfortunate but it wasn't my fault and the race director confirmed that. I never like being a part of those situations.”

Bell hung tough, battling with Don Wood for several laps and finishing in the ninth position.

It was a tremendous night for the teenager, as she continues to improve and grow as a race car driver.

Bell just completed her points season in the Legends of the Pacific, one of the nation’s premiere touring series for Legends cars. Bell finished fourth in the overall standings in the division.
