WIN RIVER 125 - BEGINNING OCTOBER 5 AT SHASTA RACEWAY PARK IN ANDERSON

The biggest weekend of the year hits Shasta Raceway Park located at the Fairgrounds in Anderson this weekend with the running of the annual Win River 125 for Super Late Models, Modifieds, Late Models, Street Stocks, and Mini Stocks. The action begins on Friday October 5, 2007 with practice from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM and a spaghetti feed to follow. On Saturday all classes will qualify and run heat races that will determine starting position in Sunday's main events. Qualifying will start at 4:00 PM on Saturday with the racing to start at 6:00 PM. On Sunday the action will get under way at 12:00 noon and will be capped off with the Win River 125 lap $4000 to win event.

In the Super Late Model division it will be a who's who of the best in Northern California as all the winners of the past eight years from 1999 to 2006 are entered, including two, two time winners 2006 and 2003 champion Ryan Foster from Anderson along with Eric Schmidt from Roseville the 2004 and 2004 champion. Another local driver looking to pick up his second Win River victory and should be considered one of the top contenders is Redding's Steven Gannon the 2005 winner and the 2006 and 2007 Shasta Raceway Park NASCAR Late Model Champion, Gannon won the 100 lap Northstate Challenge race in August at SRP driving his dad Roger's car for the first time ever. Other former Champions include current North State Challenge Series points leader and winner of last weekends Fall Classic at Redwood Acres in Eureka and the 1999 Win River winner Howard Ford from Cresent City, Ford has been very dominant on the tour so far this year as he has won 4 NSCS races and hopes to win his second Win River Championship. The two other winners include Oregon's Dale Roth the 2000 winner and Canada's Darrell Midgley, Midgley will be driving one of the few Dodge powered cars in the race. Other favorites that have to be considered for the win include former Cottonwood driver now residing in Medford, Oregon Randy Houston, Houston just needs a little luck and could easily become another first time winner, fellow Oregon driver David Miller should be in the hunt as well as Nevada's CJ Bawden and cap that off with former SRL Champion Jason Fensler from Elk Grove this years Win River 125 could be one of the best events ever at Shasta Raceway Park.

The Westcoast Modified Nationals should have another very good showing of cars as Raceway officials expect well over thirty cars for this 60 lap $2000 to win race. Local drivers will again attempt to put an end to the domination by Roseville area drivers in this event, Roseville driver's Scott Winters and Jay Lindstroth have won the last three Westcoast Modified National events and are entered for this weekend again in hopes of keeping the title away from the local Shasta Raceway Park drivers Local drivers up to the challenge include 2007 Shasta Raceway Park Modified champion Kevin Brink from Redding, along with 2005 & 2006 SRP Modified champion Guy Young from Shasta Lake, and former SRP Modified drivers from Reding, Kelly Peacock, and Charlie Kramm. Others that are likely to challenge for the win include Ken Scales from Medford, Oregon, Jeff Stephens for Sacramento won won a feature at SRP earlier this year, 2006 Roseville Modified champion Scott Woessner, Idaho's Jentry Pisca and Thomas Wright from Kelsyville who won last weekends Modified portion of the Fall Classic in Erureka.

Other classes that will be running include SRP's Late Models with the winner taking home $1500 to win in th 75 lap feature. Drivers to watch in this class include team drivers Alan Pyszora and Eric Gannon, who is coming off a huge high as he won both Late Models features at SRP as well as setting fast time last Saturday Night, also expected to fight for the win will be Anderson's Bill Lancaster, Joe Allen from Modesto who finished second to Pyszora last year. The 75 lap Street Stock/Bonus Bomber event that will see all the top drivers from Roseville, Lakeport and Ukiah, challenge the SRP Street Stock drivers in a race that will pay $750 to win. This could be one of the most competitive classes as locals, Kyle Borden from Cottonwood, Bian King from Millville, and Redding drivers Joe Brattoli, Brian Smth and Mike Wright will take on the best Street Stock driver in the Northstate. The Mini Stock drivers from the Northstate will also be on hand to do battle in their 50 lap maine event that will pay $500 to win.####
