
Justice Brothers Mini Stocks
Tyler Rogers of Riverside took the lead from Kevin Bernhardt on lap 24 and cruised on to win the race and the Justice Brothers Mini Stocks division championship Saturday night (October 6) Irwindale Speedway. The victory was his sixth of the season and the championship was his second in as many years. Rich Garver of Torrance finished in second place notching his 9th top-five finish of the season. Kevin Bernhardt finished third in the race and second place in the standings. Sixteen cars competed in the 40-lap feature race with 13 cars finishing on the lead lap.
Vista Paint Super Stocks
As they have done on nine other occasions this season, Darren Cheek of San Bernardino and Bryan Harrell waged a nose-to-bumper battle for the race lead with Harrell prevailing to win Saturday’s (October 6) Vista Paint Super Stock race while Cheek clinched the division championship. Cheek finished the race in second place and the division crown was his second having previously winning it in 2002. Harrell’s victory was his 8th of the season and the 2006 champion finished second in the standings. The margin of victory between the two drivers was 0.057 seconds. Larry Cerquettini of Redlands finished in third place Twenty-two cars competed in the 35-lap race with 12 cars finishing on the lead lap. Lee Ladd who came out of retirement for one race, started 22nd and finished 9th, capturing the hard charger award.
King Taco Super Trucks
Pat Mintey Jr of Quartz Hill took over the lead early in the race from pole sitter Todd Cameron of Monrovia and cruised to his second victory of the season winning the King Taco Super Truck 40-lap division feature race at Irwindale Speedway. With the win, Mintey Jr. clinched his first ever division championship. Rookie Conner Cantrell of Valencia finished in second place, 0.686 seconds behind the winner while Matt Hicks of Santee finished third in the race and second in the division standings. Entering the race, Hicks had won six races in his last seven starts. Twenty trucks competed in the 40-lap race with 12 finishing on the lead lap.
Pick Your Part Outlaw Figure 8’s
Barefoot Billy Ziemann won Saturday night’s (October 6) Pick Your Part Outlaw Figure 8 race edging out Steve Stewart who finished in second place, capturing the division championship. Stewart’s division crown was his second having previously won it in 2005. Ziemann’s victory was his third of the season finishing 0.720 seconds in front of Stewart. Defending champion Tom Smith of Lakewood was leading the race but collided with John Lathrop at the figure 8 course intersection and both were knocked out of the race. Twelve cars competed in the competition with only three finishing on the lead lap.
