ENDURO, DEMO DERBY, FIREWORKS AND AWARDS BANQUET WILL CLOSE 2007 SEASON AT MADERA SPEEDWAYAn exciting and successful season of racing at Madera Speedway will come to an end on Saturday, October 20 when the “Fastest 1/3 Mile in the West” hosts the 1st Annual Pumpkin Smash 400 Enduro, Demolition Derby, Boat Race and Fireworks program.

An action packed evening of skills, thrills and spills is guaranteed when the Enduro drivers attempt to successfully navigate the big asphalt track, which will be wet down before hand to make it even more treacherous, for 400 laps - 200 in each direction! It is going to be a true test of racing prowess and basic survival as these daredevils compete for a $2,000 first place prize.

The rock‘em, sock‘em Demolition Derby promises to supply more crowd-pleasing carnage than a restrictor plate race at Talladega. All of the bone jarring destruction will take place right on the front straightaway, directly in front of the main grandstands, to give the fans a bird’s eye view of all the metal crunching devastation.

The 50-lap Boat Race is sure to be a crowd pleaser as drivers tie a boat to the back of their race car and see how far they can get before it is destroyed. This is one sink or swim event you will have to see to believe.

The season finale will provide a great night of entertainment for the whole family. The “Trick or Treat” night celebration will include plenty of games, prizes and fun for the kids. Plus, prior to the demolition derby the lights will be turned off for a huge fireworks extravaganza.

Ticket prices for Saturday, October 30 are only $12.00 for adults, $10.00 for seniors 65 years of age or older, students, active duty military and juniors age 13-17, $5.00 for kids age 6-12 and kids 5 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. A family pack ticket (two adults and up to two kids 12 years old and under) is also available for the bargain price of $30.00. Adult fans with a sales receipt from any Save Mart Supermarket store receive a $5 discount at the gate on race days. VISA and MasterCard are welcome at window #3.

On Saturday, October 30 the Madera Speedway pit gates will swing open at noon, tech inspections begin at 2:00 PM, the grandstands open at 3:00 PM, and the on track activities will commence at approximately 4:00 PM.

Also circle Friday, October 19 on your racing calendars for the Madera Speedway 2007 Awards Banquet at Hatfield Hall located on the Madera Fairgrounds right next to the track.

The banquet will kick off with a no host happy hour beginning at 6:00 PM, a buffet dinner with dessert will be served at 7:00 PM and the awards ceremony will start at 8:30 PM.

Honors will be bestowed upon all of Madera’s 2007 track champions - Mark Holeman in the Western Late Models, Donny Darter in the American Limited Stock Cars, Lance Tatro in the 360 Modifieds, Stan Hankins in the Toyota Sedans, Shon “Woody” Woods in the Super Toyotas and Miles Humphreys in the Hornet division.

Awards will be given to the top 15 drivers in season points for the Western Late Models and top 10 in all the other divisions plus the most improved driver and rookie of the year in each class. There will also be special awards for Sportsman of the Year, and the MVPs for teams and staff.

The 2008 Madera Speedway schedule will also be unveiled as part of the night’s festivities.

The evening will conclude with dancing and a Karaoke contest with a $100 prize going to the winning crooner. Madera Speedway track president Kenny Shepherd and track manager Pat Patnaude will be taking the stage for song requests.

Everyone is welcome to this special event including drivers, team members, track officials, media, sponsors and fans. The cost is only $35 per person and the reservation deadline is October 12.
