LAKEPORT SPEEDWAY HOSTS 18TH OCTOBER CLASSIC

LAKEPORT, California -- Auto racing returns to the Lakeport Speedway this weekend, October 20-21, with the 18th running of the "KXBX October Classic." This special event will feature seven divisions of race cars in a three-day format, and is the biggest event of the year for the one-quarter mile paved oval located at the Lake County Fairgrounds. It will also be the final points race for the Airport Auto Brokers late models as well as the final event for the 2007 season.

Highlighting the event will be the modified division running for $2000 to win the 60 lap feature event. Four-time Lakeport Speedway champion Terry McIntire of Kelseyville will have his hands full with the many visiting modified drivers including past winner Willie Thompson, and Randy Houston, both from Salem, Oregon.

Late model drivers will be racing for $1000 to win as well as the “King of the Hill Challange Series” championship. Several All American Speedway regulars are pre-registered in this division.

The winners of the bomber, bonus bomber, street stock and mini stock 50 lap features will each take home $500. Also on the racing card are pro-4 modifieds as well as a special exhibition race with the Nostalgic Race Car Group on Sunday afternoon.

The event begins with a Friday afternoon practice from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm followed by first round qualifying. Saturday night's show will include second round qualifying with trophy dashes and 20 lap qualifying races beginning at 6:30 pm. Gates open at 4:00 pm.

Sunday will see feature events only in all seven divisions. Gates open at 11:00 am with afternoon racing at 1:00 pm. Admission prices each day are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (62+) and students (12-17), and $6 for kids (6-11). A special adult 2-day ticket is available for $20.
