YAKIMA, Washington -- The scheduled 2007 ASA Aero Exhaust Northwest Tour Awards Banquet will be held in January or February of 2008. The banquet will be held in conjunction with the pre-season drivers meeting.
ASANWT officials were unable to secure a date in 2007. The banquet will be held in Yakima, Washington, keeping with the new tradition of holding the annual event in the hometown area of that season’s champion. The 2007 ASANWT Champion BJ Tidrick resides in Yakima.
The only date available at a suitable and large enough facility was Friday night November 23rd. This date being the day after Thanksgiving was not acceptable, with most teams involved in family gatherings or such during the holidays.
In the interim officials are keeping themselves very busy finalizing race dates, rules and a tire manufacturer for 2008. The Ron Bennett led group is in constant negotiations with additional title and contingency sponsors. Officials will be meeting with all race track promoters at the upcoming WARPA and RPM meetings. Soon after the conclusion of these meetings a schedule will be released. This schedule is anticipated to be out by the first week of December 2007.
A show car has been donated to the series and will be available for pre-race appearances at the respective race track sponsor(s). This is a first step in a strong marketing approach being planned by the ASANWT.
The ASANWT will be going digital in 2008. The premier traveling series will go to an electronic scoring system for the first time in its 23 year history. A huge thank you goes to Ron Eaton, a long time Tour supporter, for providing the avenue for the series to purchase the latest timing and scoring system available to the stock car racing community.
The new date for the Awards Banquet will be announced as soon as possible.
