PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY BEGINS 13TH SEASON THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY!PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY
Date: 02/05/2008
From this Saturday on, The PAS will host the best in dirt track racing nearly every Saturday night through November 29th. The action on the famous Riverside County clay oval, which this year will feature Sprint Cars, several different forms of Stock Cars, Motorcycles and more, will be just as intense as the Giants vs Patriots, Yankees vs Red Sox, Ohio State vs Michigan and the Clippers hoping for the top spot in the NBA Draft Lottery. The popular USAC/CRA Series will run two complete shows this weekend. There will be qualifying, four ten lap heat races, a 12 lap B main and a 30 lap A main both nights. If applicable, there will also be a C main on the USAC/CRA side of the card each night. The 360 cars will qualify, run heats a B main and A main on Friday. They will then run preliminary mains on Saturday and a 30-lap A main that will pay $2,000.00 to the winner. Among the top stars doing double duty will be two-time Oval Nationals champion and the 2006 USAC/CRA champion Cory Kruseman of Ventura, California, 1997 Santa Maria and 1998 Bandit Series champ “Showtime” Danny Sheridan of Santa Maria, California and Warsaw, Missouri superstar Jesse “The Rocket” Hockett.
Kruseman will be driving his own car on the 410 portion of the show. In the 360s, he will team with car owner Dave Ellis. The powerful duo has multiple wins in the tough Western World 360 Sprint Car Championships at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix. Kruseman will also enter cars for youngsters Austin Mero of Kingsburg, California, Alex Schutte of Redding, California, and Orange, California’s Henry Clarke. Sheridan, a handsome 33-year old who is a favorite with the female fans, had his best USAC/CRA finish in 2007 when he placed third in the standings and won two main events (The PAS and Manzanita). Hockett returns less than three months after winning his first ever USAC National main event during the preliminaries for the prestigious Budweiser Oval Nationals. Norco, California’s Tony Jones, the 2007 USAC/CRA champion and the most popular driver to ever race at The PAS, Temecula, California’s Mike Spencer, who many are tabbing to win the 2008 USAC/CRA crown and Yorba Linda, California veteran Rip Williams, the 2004 USAC/CRA title winner who is beginning his 31st season of Sprint Car racing, will all be among the favorites this weekend. So will the likes of Manhattan Beach, California’s Garrett Hansen, who will be in the Mark Priestley ride for 2008, the tough ITI Performance duo of “Dynamite” David Cardey of Riverside and Kerman, California’s Davey Pombo, who ended up second in 2007 SCRA points, former VRA Champion “The Bullet” Blake Miller, Camarillo, California’s Josh Ford and “Smooth” Tyler Brown of Norco, California. While the predicted high in Indiana on Saturday is 41, the predicted high in Perris is 74! That is kind of warm, but you can bet the racing will be as hot as mid summer as the West Coast’s number one dirt track opens its 13th season of great racing and family entertainment.
