RINGER'S WEEKLY ROUNDUP

BROWNSBURG, Indiana – Racing in Daytona wasn’t the only racing going on in Florida over the weekend. A couple of Ringers’ supporting racers picked up wins at the World of Outlaws DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla.

Thursday evening was the opening night of the Alltel DIRTcar Nationals, and Josh Richards started out his World of Outlaws Late Model Series the same way he did last year, in the winner’s circle. In fact, the entire top-five were all Ringers’ racers. Rick Eckert finished second; Billy Moyer, third; Steve Francis, fourth and Shannon Babb, now driving for Clint Bowyer Motorsports, in fifth.

The Alltel Nationals weekend wrapped up on Saturday night with Billy Moyer capturing his third win in five races. His other two victories came during the UMP DIRTcar-sanctioned Super Late Model races on Monday and Wednesday. His three wins totaled on the higher end of $30,000 for his win-filled week. The top 10 was filled with Ringers’ racers; Chub Frank, second, Josh Richard, third, Brian Shirley, eighth and 2007 World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion Steve Francis in ninth.

The WoO Late Models have a little over a month before their next race at Pike County Speedway in Magnolia, Miss.

On Friday night under the lights at Daytona, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series had their season opener with the Chevy Silverado 250.

The Ringers’ team of Billy Ballew Motorsports and their part-time driver Kyle Busch battled for the lead in the closing laps of the race, but was unfortunately held off by race winner Todd Bodine. Busch held on for second after starting 21st. Busch will share driving duties of the No. 51 with Nationwide Series driver David Stremme.

Ballew’s regular No. 15 entry was driven by Marc Mitchell in the first race of the season, with Mitchell finishing 13th.

From the Green Light Racing stable Jason White and Shane Sieg piloted the trucks for the first race. White drove the GunBroker.com Dodge to the checkers in 23rd, while teammate Sieg finished 24th, respectively.

Ringers’ supporting driver Brendan Gaughan didn’t have the luck he probably hoped to have in his debut with his new team. Gaughan, wearing DriverX by Ringers, was involved in an accident on lap 18, ending his evening early.

The Craftsman Truck Series, along with the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series, heads to sunny California this weekend for the San Bernardino County 200 at California Speedway in Fontana.

Once again, Ringers would like to congratulate the entire Penske Racing organization on picking up the 50th anniversary Daytona 500 win on Sunday. Congratulations again on the 1-2 finish, you guys!
