2008 SUPER CLEAN MODIFIED RACING SERIES DEBUTS THIS SATURDAY NIGHT.SUPER CLEAN MODIFIED RACING SERIES

 The excitement of the 2008 Super Clean Modified Racing Series is going to make its official debut this Saturday night at the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway in Blythe-California. This high quality, ten race series, features the finest open wheel modified talent in the western states area who will be competing for over $105,000 in purses and a special points fund at five different tracks between April 12th and November 8th. All main events feature are 75 full green flag laps meaning yellow caution flag laps do not count. This series features some of the finest wheel to wheel competition you'll ever want to see. Just one of the incentives that will make these Super Clean Modified Series drivers race even harder is the fact that each one of the ten races pays $1,000 to the winner.
Participating tracks, in addition to the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway, include the Havasu 95 Speedway in Lake Havasu City-Arizona, the Bullring located at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino-California and the Tucson Raceway Park in Tucson-Arizona.
These ground shaking, thunder making, modifieds are allowed to use a power plant up to 410 cubic inches. The teams have a choice of using either one or two barrel carburetors but they must be naturally aspirated. The body of the car must be a 1970 or newer American made compact passenger car only. However Tar racing type bodies with windows are also allowed. Because of the close quarter intensity associated with this type of racing two way radio communication, with a spotter or crew member, is not only allowed but highly recommended.
Past additions of this modified racing series has clearly demonstrated how it has reached its current level of popularity. The 2007 edition of the series was won by San Diego's Danny Gay who had to score one feature win and eight top five finishes to take the title and a check for $3,700 from the series' points fund. Gay had some very tough competition last year from Jason Patison who had five feature wins in the series. The only reason Patison didn't win the championship was due to a hard luck night last July when he only scored 10 points. That clearly shows the level of consistency it takes to win this championship.
The 2007 series had 58 different drivers from all over the western states area and the vast majority of them are expected back this year. There is also an impressive list of new drivers who have already signed on to make their series debut this year. That list includes Chris Francis, Joe Ruggles, Andrew Phipps, Corey Fancy, Rod Johnson, Travis Stockman, Jim Mardis, Josh Green, Jim Snow and Travis Swalwel. They, in turn, will be joined by veteran modified drivers who understand the inner workings of this series very well. Some of those drivers include Jimmy Dickerson, Mike Salm, Tim Morse, John Tyczki, Billy Johanneck, Randy Forbis, Dave Arce and the racing Gerchman family: Chris, David and Larry among many others.
The Qualifying for these 75 lap features are also very intense. In addition to establishing that highly coveted track position, each driver will receive $250 just for starting the A main. Also a huge factor in the qualifying procedure is the fact that these A mains are limited to 22 cars except for the events at Las Vegas and Tucson which will have a 24 car field. The first 16 starting positions will be based on two lap qualifying times. Positions 17 through 20 will be transfer spots from the B main race. The final two positions are provisionals.The events at Tucson and Las Vegas will be allocated four provisionals.
Each event also pays a series of $100 bonuses for the B main winner, the Poly Dome Plastic Products Trophy Dash winner, the Sencon Concrete Hard Charger, the Budweiser Fast Time, and the Clean Pass Award.
Making the Super Clean Modified Racing Series even more lucrative is the fact that it has its own television package. Three of the events will be aired nationally on the Versus Channel. Four more of the races will be aired on Channel 45 a high powered local station that services viewers in Arizona, California and Nevada.
The series also has extremely strong financial support led by its title sponsor Super Clean. The company's official logo states "it's a dirty, greasy, grimy world but not for long." They prove that point with high quality products such as Super Clean Cleanser and Degreaser, All Wheel Cleaner and Concrete Cleaner. Super Clean is putting up $84,000 in purse money that will be paid out over the ten race series.
Also playing an important role in the Super Clean Modified Series is Hoosier Tire West. Hoosier Tires were created by Bob and Joyce Newton,in northern Indiana back in 1957,who at the time were dissatisfied with the quality of tires that they were using on their race car. The Fresno-California based Hoosier Tire West has been providing race teams with tires that are "designed for champions" for many years now. Hoosier Tire West has generously put up $14,000 for the series' point fund as well as a $7,000 purse bonus. Also coming on board with Hoosier Tire West is some of their long time motor sports associates which includes Blue Water Resort and Casino, Budweiser, Poly Dome Plastic Products and Sencon Concrete LLC.
It almost goes without saying that it's difficult to imagine any motor sports event in this country without the name Lucas Oil attached to it. The company was created in 1989 by Forrest and Charlotte Lucas who, at the time, were the owners of a national long haul trucking fleet. That experience led them to realize that there was a definite need for a high quality brand of lubricants and additives. The result was the creation was a wide variety of engine products at a very affordable price. Lucas Oil will be paying a driver $2,500 to win the series championship plus $1,000 worth of Lucas Oil Products. Joining them in this effort is their long time motor sports partners known as "Team Lucas" which includes Dixie Chopper, Jim Beam, R&L Carriers, E3 Spark Plugs, General Tire, Torco Racing Fuels, K&N Performance Filters and Fatheadz Eyewear.
In addition to the exciting debut of the 2008 Super Clean Modified Series this Saturday night, the Lucas Oil I 10 Speedway will also be treating its fans to racing action from the USAC Ford Focus Midgets, The Torco Racing Fuels Street Stocks and the lady drivers from the Lucas Oil Factory Stocks. The spectator gates open at 5 pm with the racing getting underway at 7 pm.
