MYERS MAKING CAMPINGWORLD SERIES DEBUT IN PHOENIX AFTER BACK TO BACK WINS

PHOENIX, AZ, April 9, 2008 - Andrew Myers, of Huntington Beach, CA, thought that he had his racing plans for 2008, and even 2009, all sealed up complete with a sponsor and a ride in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. When the sponsorship evaporated over the winter, it left Myers wondering what he’d be racing this year.

Eugene Duberry approached Myers to race his late model at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale in the Auto Club Late Model weekly series. Myers accepted, literally dusting off the car as it had been sitting in storage for three years. He went on to win the pole opening weekend and lead every lap on his way to victory lane. A week later, he repeated that feat, going two for two for two – pole and race winner on both weekends.

His wins at Toyota Speedway led to a phone call from CampingWorld Series car owner Joe Nava looking to see if Myers would be interesting in racing the CampingWorld Series Race at Phoenix International Raceway in April.

“I was at my shop working on my late model when Joe called. We met for lunch and talked about what both our needs were. He needed a driver that could win races and I needed a sponsor. The result of the meeting was that we both got what we wanted. And lunch was pretty good too!” said Andrew Myers.

Performance Motorsports has been a long time competitor in the Grand National West division. Their list of previous drivers includes Joe Bean, Greg Pursley and Steve Portenga.

Sponsorship for this weeks Phoenix 150 will be provided by J & M Construction and Jan’s Towing. “My good friend Loyd McGee has helped me out on other races and this year we kind of partnered up with his successful late model and super late model racing program at Toyota Speedway. We’re happy to fly the J & M Racing colors this week.” Said Joe.

Myers eyes in the skies will be TJ Majors, Dale Earnhardt Jr’s spotter in the Sprint Cup Series. His experience will no doubt help the # 77 and Andrew as he tries to become a repeat winner at Phoenix.

This race will be televised live on HDNET Thursday April 10th at 7:15 p.m. It will also be broadcast at a later date on Speed Channel. Check your local listings for dates and times.####
