HIGH POINT, N.C. - The chassis that Michael Waltrip Racing driver Michael McDowell wrecked during Friday’s qualifying session at Texas Motor Speedway was built by Triad Racing Development, in High Point NC. Even with McDowell’s wreck resulting in the car being completely destroyed, the safety innovations Triad Racing Development implemented in the chassis enabled McDowell to walk away from the incident under his own power.

“Obviously as a racecar driver, all we think about is going fast,” commented Michael McDowell driver of the No. 00 Aaron's Dream Machine. He continued to say, “It is nice to know that I am safe in a car prepared by Michael Waltrip Racing and Triad Racing Development. The car had a vicious impact and all the safety precautions NASCAR takes really paid off. The driver compartment stayed in tact and I have to take my hat off to all the safety initiatives that have been put in place over the years.”

Triad Racing Development specializes in putting together a product that is not only efficient on the track but also uses the latest technology to protect the driver within the car. Triad Racing Development has been in business since 2003, and is led by Todd Holbert, son of legendary sports car racer Al Holbert. Todd and his staff specialize in chassis development, as well as component construction innovation.

“Michael (McDowell) took a really hard hit on Friday,” commented Todd Holbert Tuesday morning. “It is good to know that the extra time we put in our chassis paid off and the chassis did it job. NASCAR has done a great job designing a car that can withstand such an incredible impact. This is one of the worst COT wrecks to date and is one of the hardest hits I have seen in over 10 years in the business. For McDowell to walk away without any injury is proof NASCAR and Triad Racing Development takes safety seriously.”####
