Centennial's Ronnie Hults had his Snap-On Tools Pro Truck dialed in Saturday night at Colorado National Speedway during the Rocky Mountain Spring Sizzler. Ed Vecchiarelli Jr powered his Dodge to the win during the Sunoco Grand American Modified feature. Other winners were: Terry Plummer in the Legend Cars, Gary Land in the Modified Coupes and Steel Dragon in the Witthar Racing Trains.
The Legend Cars rolled out first for their main event on a very chilly evening. Darrell Stewart jumped to the early lead in the feature over Terry Plummer and Jace Hansen. On lap 2, several cars collided and Jason Stewart ended up against the back-stretch wall. Chad Wilson and Craig Coughlin both recieved damage. Back underway, Plummer jumped into the lead with Stewart, Hansen, Jon Krizman and Keith Law following. Ed Bostron spun for a lap 5 caution, and Kyle Clegg passed Law for fifth on lap 8. On lap 11, John Jolly spun and Ty Hunter locked up his brakes to miss Jolly, after the carnage Jason Duncan was in the infield missing a tire and Scotty Scott was spun. Law got back by Clegg on lap 11, and Law's race ended on lap 13, when oil for his broken oil line caused Clegg and Bill Yeros to spin. Law was done for the night. A green-white-checkered would finish the show and Plummer won over Hansen, Krizman, D Stewart and Clegg. Plummer and Stewart took the qualifier races.
The next feature to roll out onto the speedway was the Modified Coupe division. Carl Vair jumped to the early lead over Gary Land, Frank Denning III, David Johnson, from the back, and Chet Graham. On lap 11 Land and Vair bumped and Land took control of the lead. On lap 13, Denning and Johnson tangled and Johnson was sent to the rear. Denning was second on lap 15, and Johnson was flying back through. On lap 23, Johnson charged back up to third and Land won over Denning, Johnson, Vair and Graham. Denning and Land raced to wins in the qualifiers.
The SUNOCO Grand American Modifieds were next to test out the cold track. Ed Vecchiarelli Jr jumped out to the early lead with Paul Deines, Jace Hansen, Ed Vecchiarelli Sr and Mike Castagno following. Dave Finley and Kyle Maloney tangled for a lap 3 caution. Deines, Hansen and Vecchiarelli Jr were dicing through lapped traffic and on lap 18 Deines was partly in the infield and briefly had the lead. Vecchiarelli Jr regained the lead with Hansen up to second. On lap 23, Jared Wall's car broke and sent him hard into the wall to end his evening. On lap 29, Deines got back by Hansen and Vecchiarelli Jr took the win over Deines, Hansen, Vecchiarelli Sr and Castagno. In post race inspection, Hansen was docked 4 positions moving Finley into fifth. Castagno and Vecchiarelli Jr took wins in the qualifiers.
Mark Neff and Ronnie Hults led the Snap-On Tools Pro Truck feature to the green flag. Hults jumped to the early lead over Neff, Richard Burton, Happy Ferree and Beau Kellogg. On lap 13, debris on the track was spotted for a caution flag. Burton took second from Neff on lap 14 and then Kellogg and Cris Muhler got by Ferree as Adam Deines was joining the mix. The handiling on the Neff ride went away as he fell out of the top 5 and Kellogg was now third ahead of Muhler and Deines. Deines was third on lap 23 over Muhler and Kellogg as Ferree came charging back on lap 25. On lap 27 Rudy Vanderwal spun for a caution and Ferree got by Kellogg late in the race. Hults took the narrow win over Burton, Deines, Muhler and Ferree. Burton and Hults took the qualifier races.
