AMARGOSA VALLEY, Nevada -- Some of the quickest IMCA Modifieds in the southwest are expected to chase $2,500 in first-place money here Friday and Saturday when Death Valley Raceway plays host to Modified Madness.

Chasing a purse sponsored by Roland Kent Motorsports along with MJ Dean Construction, SST Trucking and Heavy Haul, the IMCA Modified entries will be competing as part of the 10th annual Dwarf Car Nationals at the third-mile dirt track situated between Death Valley and Lathrop Wells south of Highway 373. Based on 20-car fields, the winner gets $1,000 Friday and $1,500 Saturday.

A Big Dog Dwarf Car event is set for 5 p.m. Thursday with each driver giving money to a fun that will be taken by the fastest qualifier. Each driver is given two laps during the competition.

The awards banquet for the Western States Dwarf Car Association slated for 7 p.m. at the Long Street Hotel and Casino.

Heat races for Dwarf Cars and Modifieds will begin at about 3 p.m. Friday and Saturday with the main events slated for 6 p.m.

Las Vegas native Ryan Cotrell, who is coming off his first IMCA Modified win April 5 at DVR, will also compete in both the Dwarfs and Modifieds. He will power a Pro Chassis entry from Oregon in the Dwarf Car Division.

Among the other entries in the Modified Division will be Las Vegas drivers including two-time DVR winner Ronnie Williams, Dan Fitzgerald and Joe Kent; along with Pahrump drivers Levi Kiefer, Todd Nunnally and Leland Hibdon.
