MAD HOUSEWIFE’S NIGHT RETURNS TO MADERA SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAYThe Madera Speedway is back in action this Saturday night, April 19, with Infineon Raceway/Mad Housewife’s Night, featuring seven racing divisions plus the first of three rock’em, sock’em Destruction Derbies on the 2008 schedule. Not only will it be a monster night of racing, but also all the ladies will be admitted FREE of charge!

Headlining this Saturday’s NASCAR Whelen Weekly Racing Series program will be the popular Western Late Models in a 50-lap feature. Last season several young drivers led the way in the ultra competitive division. Recently another “Young Gun” joined the party when 21-year-old Kyle Gottula, of Modesto, notched his first career Western Late Model feature win on April 5.

“It felt really good,” said Gottula of his victory. “I trained a long time for that and it was great to finally bring it home.”

Kyle Gottula may be young in age, but he has already logged plenty of time at and on the racetrack. His father, Kevin, was a mainstay in the late model wars at Stockton 99 Speedway for years and Kyle began racing a Modified in his teens. After competing in the SRL Wild West Shootout Tour last year, he made the decision to compete full-time at Madera Speedway in 2008.

“I thought Madera might be a step down, but I am really surprised at the level of talent here,” explained Gottula. “You expect the young guys to make little rookie errors, but you hardly ever see anyone make a mistake.”

Like the other “Young Gun” club members, Gottula’s 2008 goals are simple.

“I want go for the track championship, try for the state title and win as many races as possible.”

Once again Gottula will have plenty of competition from fellow youngsters Ross Strmiska, of Stockton, and Trevor Schlundt, of Clovis, as well as seasoned veterans including Stockton’s Joey Stearns and the ageless Harry Belletto, of Modesto. Another popular old hand, Dave Byrd of San Jose, is expected to make his season debut this Saturday in a brand new car owned by Kenny Whelan.

Joining the Western Late Models will be the American Limited Stock Cars (ALSC) in a 30-lap feature. With 2007 champion Donny Darter leaving for the late models, the ALSC division looks to be a wide open this season. Stockton’s Brian Vosburg won the first race of the season, while Howard Holden, of Clovis, picked up a convincing victory in race number two on April 5.

Filling out this Saturday’s program will be the Hornets, Toyota Sedans, Mini Cup, and Baby Grands. Also on hand will be Spectator Racing Series where the fans have a chance to experience the thrills of racing.

Once the regular racing divisions have concluded their night’s work, the front straightaway will be cleared, cordoned off and watered down for the first heart pumping, metal grinding, dirt flying, death defying Destruction Derby of 2008!

This Saturday Madera Speedway will also be saluting Infineon Raceway, which is celebrating 40 years of historic racing action in the Sonoma Valley during the 2008 season. Early arriving fans will be rewarded with Infineon Raceway promotional items such as key chains, license plate frames and hats. Other prizes - including cup holders, pens, magnet schedules, race tickets and t-shirts - will be distributed throughout the evening.

Ticket prices for this special Saturday, April 19 show are only $15.00 for adults, $13.00 for seniors 65 years of age or older, $10.00 for students, active duty military and juniors age 13-17, $5.00 for kids age 6-12 while kids 5 and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult. A family pack ticket (two adults and up to two kids 12 years old and under) is also available for the bargain price of just $35.00. VISA and MasterCard are welcome at window #3.

And remember all the ladies coming out to Madera Speedway for this Saturday’s Infineon Raceway/Mad Housewife’s Night get in for FREE! So gentlemen bring your girlfriend, or your wife, or your mother-in-law, or even better yet – bring all three – because all the ladies get in for FREE!

On Saturday, April 19, Madera Speedway registration begins at 10:00 AM, the pit gates will open at 11:00 AM, the grandstands open at 3:00 PM, heats and dashes begin at 5:00 PM and the evening’s opening ceremonies will kick off main event racing at approximately 6:00 PM.

The Madera Speedway is conveniently located at the Madera County Fairgrounds just off to the west side of Highway 99 at the Cleveland Avenue exit. For more Madera Speedway information visit the track’s website at www.racemadera.com or call the Info/Race Line phone number at (559) 673-RACE.####
