FREE STUFF FOR EARLY ARRIVING FANS THIS SATURDAY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY!
Date: 04/22/2008
“This is the fourth or fifth year in a row that we have been involved with raising money for the American Cancer Society to help fight cancer,” PAS promoter Don Kazarian said on Monday. “Each year our goal has been $10,000.00 and with the generous help of our great fans, crews, sponsors and officials we have done that. We will do it again this year and hopefully make even more. Cancer is a dreaded disease and every dollar raised helps fight against it.” There will be special collection areas around the track and drivers will come into the stands each of the next five weeks to take donations from the fans. On the track, the hot USAC/CRA action will continue on Saturday. As was the case in 2007, the series is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in the nation. Two weeks ago when the series last appeared on the brightly lit oval, Elk Grove, California’s Johnny Rodriguez became the eight different winner in nine races this year. Ten drivers flipped on the wild night with seven of them getting on their head in the main. Joining the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars on the program will be the PASSCAR Modifieds. Hemet, California’s Kevin Busher leads the point standings heading into Saturday’s race. There will be a couple names familiar to Sprint Car fans in the field. Oklahoma native Toby “Okie” Sampson, who now makes his home in Torrance, California, is a Sprint Car builder and former Sprint Car driver. And, for those with a real long memory, Middy Boggio of Riverside, California used to race Midgets with the long defunct USRC Midget Series in California, Arizona and Nevada. He retired in 1979 and did not race again until he purchased a Modified to race at The PAS this year. Saturday’s bash by the banks of Lake Perris clay will include qualifying, ten lap heat races, a 12-lap B main event and hopefully flip free 30-lap A main event for the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and heats and a 20-lap main for the open wheel Modifieds. For the kids there will be the Big Wheel Heat Race and, of course, the popular PAS Dance Contest at intermission.
