COTO DE CAZA, California -- Austin Reed, driver of the #14 Ringers Gloves, RBP, Headblade.com, Approved Memory, Pimphats.com, JDA Hose and Fittings Modified Karts is gearing up for the first race of the season in the CORR series this weekend in Pomona Ca. He ran a partial season last year, racing in the last half of the season while gaining valuable seat time. Expect to see Austin in a new, faster truck this season as he drives the recently released Modified Kart developed by Trophy Kart. Dave Reed, Austin’s Dad commented that the decision to move up to the faster truck coincides with their overall plan to continue moving Austin up the ranks in racing.
Austin is looking to start the year with a solid run while staying out of trouble, “Of course we want to win but we are trying to be realistic and just learn as much as we can. We had a rough time last weekend at the SXS National series at LEMP.” Austin shared that he ran his Junior 2 Kart on Saturday and walked away with the win in his heat race, putting him on the pole for the main event. He had a good start and was in second place when coming over the table top at a high rate of speed the truck landed nose first and when the rear came down it snapped the chain and his day was over. Sunday he raced the new Modified Kart, starting on the pole. Coming into the second corner, while running in 3rd place, he was drilled by another driver from the side and the chain got jammed into the sprocket resulting in a second DNF for the weekend.
Austin Reed Racing worked hard over the winter to secure two new major sponsors and one associate that have come on board to join an already stellar team. They are thrilled to welcome Rolling Big Power (RBP), www.rollingbigpower.com) and owners Roland and Christie Trudell who are excited to be a part of Austin's racing. Promoting their Diesel Performance products including exhaust systems, grilles, and accessories in off road racing is a natural fit.
HeadBlade's (www.headblade.com) Todd Greene came on board viewing the partnership as an opportunity to increase brand awareness of his company and products. Dave Reed shared that the HeadBlade Sport Shaver, recognized by TIME Magazine as one of the Top Ten Designs in 2000 is like a race car shaver for his head. “Once you use it you will never go back to anything else.”
Joining as an associate sponsor is Pimphats.com (www.pimphats.com) which offers a full line of fun apparel in its online store with items like suits, costumes, hats, Bling-Bling and many other cool items.
Austin also starts the year with a new teammate, Kassidy Johnson from Foothill Ranch, California. She is the daughter of famed Supercorss Champion Ricky Johnson who today drives the RED BULL Pro 2 truck in the popular CORR closed circuit off road racing series. Kassidy raced Austin's truck on Sunday as a warm up for this weekend's race in CORR. This was her very first race and she came home with an exciting second place finish. This weekend she will start her first race in CORR in Austin's JR2 kart with sponsorship help coming from Greatshowers.com a baby and bridal online store that carries high end party invitations and favors.
Trophy Karts are smaller versions of the Trophy Trucks. The new Elite/Modified Kart has a KX250F 38HP Kawasaki 4 stroke motor, Chromoly Cage, thicker tubing than standard TK, 4wheel Disc brakes, Steering Rack, Rear Sway Bar, 22" Tires, 10" Wheels, 5spd Sequential Transmission, 4 Gallon Cell, 300M Rear Axle, 4 Link Rear Suspension, 2 Bros Racing Pipe, and will do 80 mph. The JR 2 Modified kart has a Subaru 15 horsepower sealed spec motor. <
Austin's Kart is prepared by DeJong Off-Road in Temecula, CA and is a teammate to Mitchell DeJong.
