POTASHNICK AND CAIN COME TOGETHER FOR FINAL WINSTON WEST EVENT, THE HOME DEPOT 300

Driver of the No. 65 NASCAR Winston West Monte Carlo, Sammy Potashnick will be driving fellow driver Jerry Cain's No. 71 car for the final NASCAR Winston West Series race at Irwindale Speedway.

The car is top favorite of Cain and Potashnick anticipates a strong run in the No. 71 car at Irwindale, as well. Being that this is last-minute decision, Potashnick feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to take the car out for a few test laps at Bakersfield's Mesa Marin Speedway yesterday.

"My team and I felt like it was important for me to get a few shake-down laps in Cain's car so we had an idea of what the car would be like for the race," Potashnick explained, "so we took it out for just a few laps today; that was a good thing to do because now we'll have the confidence in the car that it really deserves."

Potashnick has had somewhat of a trying season due in part to the fact that he planned on a full season with Walker Evans Racing, then ended up parting ways with the team; however, his season has consisted of 10 Winston West races with two top-5 finishes and four top-10 finishes. Potashnick feels confident in adding something to his positive statistics in running this car of Jerry Cain's.
