DALLAS COLODNY TAKES SPEED TRUCK POINTS LEADASA SPEED TRUCK CHALLENGE
Source: vc
![]() Reno, Nevada racer Dallas Colodny brought his hometown’s rocking and rolling with him to the Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway in Blythe, California. Colodny shook up the ASA Speed Truck point standings, taking over the lead with a solid second-place finish behind two-time Series champion Darren Young. Finishing no worse than third in the first four races of the season, the sophomore driver is closer than ever to that elusive first victory.
The race was 100 laps long, with an air temperature to match and a stiff breeze just to make things more interesting. The pace was fast and furious, with only one caution period for a suspected fire on lap 76. Colodny qualified the no. 08 Dodge Dakota third-fastest, and took over the lead in the race for several laps before yielding the top spot to Young. But his second place finish was good enough to vault him into the series lead with 284 points on the season. After the race, the young Reno native admitted to being exhausted, both from the heat and from the track, the toughest on the ASA Speed Truck schedule. But he was happy with the result, and praised crew chief Chuck LaHorgue, who put a fast truck under him.
Colodny is sponsored by LaHorgue Metal Fabricators, Kohn Colodny CPA’s, Ramac Industries, and Pepsi Products of Reno, Nevada.
Firebird Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona is the next stop for the 2008 ASA Speed Truck series, the only road course on the schedule. The May 10 race at Firebird will be nationally televised on the ION cable network.
