Cool temperatures, some drizzle and hot racing action kept the fans at Evergreen entertained as the whole show went off in spectacular fashion. With 2008 NASCAR Whelen All American Series Track Championship points up for grabs many drivers made moves up, some fell down the standings and others tread water in the early going of this hard charging season.
In the Speedway Chevrolet Super Stocks Naima Lang continued his domination of the class by running out to a nice lead and finishing well ahead of the heated battle between Fred Hall, Mike Holden & Kelly Mann. They finished second through fourth respectively. Naima also took the points lead in the division from defending champion John Zaretzke, who had an early lap incident that relegated him to the back of the pack forcing him to battle his way back into the top ten.
The Les Schwab Tires Bombers ran a marathon race that started in the dry and ended in a wet track. The lead changed numerous times with Jim Foti, current points leader having to restart several times, including a green/white flag restart to end the race.
The Stinger Eights had a B-Main event and a fast and furious A-Main. James Conley won the B-Main while Defending champion Mike Middleton after battling with Sean Peters and running second on the final lap, benefited from Peters car stalling on the final turn. "The Wizard" Ben Chandler ran second and Michael Durbin rounded out the top three.
The Mini Stocks also ran a B-Main with Aren Losier taking the trophy. After heavy traffic kept the fast qualifiers from moving forward quickly, Kim Lang took command of the A-Main from John Roberts as defending champion Chuck Richard and Mark Weedin went door-to-door exchanging positions more than once. Finally Weedin prevailed and put a win in the book as Lang held on for second and Richard third.
Crash Cars once again put on a wild show with Josh "Crusher" Beckel bringing home his first win of the 2008 season. It was the best car count of the year so far in the new and exciting class.
