BUMBERA MOVING UP IN POINTS, CLOSER TO FIRST ROSEVILLE WIN

The young up-and-coming driver recorded a 4th place finish in the 100 lap event on May 3rd. The finish came on the heels of missing a Late Model race to compete in the NASCAR Camping World Series West in her home state of Texas.

“Taking a two-to-three week break from Golden State Racing bothered me a little,” Bumbera said. “But the team came together and it was really encouraging. I think we have a good shot to win and it can only get better.”

Bumbera, in her first season as a member of Drive for Diversity, has taken the Golden State Racing #00 Chevrolet to ninth in the points. Bumbera and her TXI Riverside Concrete team jumped eight spots in the standings with the top-five run.

“I have a whole lot of confidence knowing we’re in contention for the top-five (in the standings),” Bumbera said.

Bumbera’s extensive experience in Late Models back at Houston Motorsports Park in Texas, has allowed her to quickly become one of the leading members of the 2008 NASCAR Drive for Diversity team. Bumbera is in her sixth year of competition at the Late Model level, making her one of the most experienced members as well.

Bumbera has her eyes firmly set on picking up her first west coast win, and hopes this Saturday can be the night.

“To get the win, the main thing will be experience,” Bumbera said. “You have to get to know the track and the competition. I think we’ll get there soon.”

A strong point of the team has been its ability to have a car that performs well at both the beginning and end of the race. This style of setup allowed Golden State Racing driver Eric Schmidt to win the championship in 2007, and appears to be in play this season with Bumbera.

“In the long races our strong point is the car at the end of the race,” Bumbera said. “While other cars are falling off, ours doesn’t.”

Bumbera and her teammates Laura Hayes and John Moore will be in action this Saturday night in their Golden State Racing Chevrolets.
