SONOMA, California — Steve Page, president and general manager of Infineon Raceway, offered the following reaction to today's announcement about the retirement of H.A. "Humpy" Wheeler as Chief Operating Officer and President of Speedway Motorsports, Inc. and President and General Manager of Lowe's Motor Speedway:
“As a promoter and showman, Humpy Wheeler is the man the rest of us measure ourselves by. The imagination and creativity he’s brought to the entertainment side of our industry is legendary but it sometimes overshadows the serious contributions he’s made to the sporting side of motor racing. There has been no stronger voice for the integrity of the competition or the safety of the participants and we have all benefited from Humpy’s vision and consistent advocacy.
I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to know and learn from Humpy and wish him well in these new chapters of his career.”
