Southwest Series driver, Clint Curry and the #85 Champion Wheel Team got a little help from Series Champ Matt Crafton. This week, Curry and Crafton met at Mesa Marin Raceway for a day of practice. Crafton was able to help with the car set-up and give Clint some pointers on his driving which helped shave Curry's lap times down.
Curry is a former Grand National Go Kart Champion and a six time Region 7 Champ. When he was on top of the Kart game, drivers like Kevin Harvick and Matt Crafton found him tough to beat. When Harvick moved to the Busch Series last year, CWI Racing owner, Milan Garrett, purchased Harvick's Southwest Series car to get Clint back in the driver's seat.
As a rookie, it was a tough year for Curry. After several years of not being behind the wheel, he climbed back in a race car only to encounter a series of set backs. "We all know Clint can do it", said team member Brad Collins. "Harvick and Crafton know it too or they wouldn't be willing to help."
In addition to driving in the Southwest Series, Clint is the Crew Chief for CWI Racing's Craftsman Truck entry. With a strong team in place and a recently purchased second car, Clint Curry could be the driver to watch in the upcoming Southwest Series season.![]()
