
NASCAR Racers , the alliance of Ron Esau Racing and Paul Copenhaver Motorsports has arrived!!! Combining the racing experience and talent of both these gentlemen is grounds to get the competition worried. Each program comes with a lot of racing background. Ron Esau has many years of winning races and championships as a driver in NASCAR late model racing series plus regional and touring divisions. This includes the inaugural NASCAR Southwest touring series championship.
Paul Copenhaver has proven experience in winning races and championships as a crew-man and crew-chief.
1993-1995-worked on various racing teams/Stock Car/Trucks/Superlate-1995 Crew Chief for Street Stock division at Mesa Marin for Karl Copenhaver received 5 wins several fast times and finished 2nd in points and Rookie for the year.
1996 worked with Lance Hooper as a tire specialist in the Winston West series won the Championship and driver received Rookie of the year.
1997 began as Crew Chief for Superlate Model racing-at Willow Springs. Driver Andy Coyle won 1st time out and had several top 5’s and finished 3rd in points.
1997-1998 Crew Chief at Mesa Marin for Greg Pursley received several top 5’s and 1 victory.
1999 to 2004 became full time Crew Chief and Team Manager for Sunrise Ford Motorsports Superlate model two-car race team at Irwindale Speedway.
Duties included building from ground up race team and cars 2000 James Bruncati finished 5th in points and Rookie of the Year.
2002 Tony Bruncati had 2 Victories-7 top 3 finishes-11 top 5 finishes-13 top 10 finishes. He finished 3rd in points for the end of the year for the Jani-King series and 2nd in year end points for the Miller Big 10 Championship
2003-Irwindale Speedway-Tony Bruncati 12 top 5’s-2nd in year-end points for the Jani-King Series and ran 3rd in year-end points for the Miller Big 10 Championship.
2003 Crew Chief for Nathan Wolf for the Craftsman Truck series at Mesa Marin driver qualified 17th out of 38 trucks and he finished 19th.
2004 Tony Bruncati had 3 fast times 1 victory-11 top 5’s and held the track record at 17.96. Finished 2nd in points to the Weekly racing series national champion.
2004 worked with Miles Copenhaver age 15 at Kern County raceway SuperStock series-raced 6 times had 2 wins and 6 top 5’s with 2 fast times and won Rookie of the year.
2005- Crew Chief and maintained two rookie drivers, Brian Ickler Superlate Model series and Justin Lofton Late Model series. Brian Ickler had 1 win and 1 fast time, 6 top 5’s and 10 top 10’s. Justin Lofton had 1win and 3 fast times, 6 top 5’s and 9 top 10’s, Both drivers never had pavement or oval track experience.
Ron will still race a limited schedule but is also coaching Miles Copenhaver in bringing his racing career to fruition. Miles will have a wealth of knowledge to pull from. Ron Esau was back east during the World 600 with friend Dave Reed. Ron visited with Brian Ickler, Jerry Baxter, Marc Reno and lots of the old West Coast NASCAR officials. Ron also was on NASCAR Sirus Radio show for about 15 minutes with Chocolate Meyers when he was taking a tour of the Richard Childress race shop in Welcome, North Carolina. Dave Reed and Ron had a great Lunch at the Richard Childress Winery, then headed to Brain Icklers Shop in Moorseville, NC. Ron,Dave and Brain got a private tours of the NASCAR R&D Center, M.Waltrip Racing.
Esau, of El Cajon CA, has been racing at the Irwindale speedway the last few years on a limited schedule.
Copenhaver has moved his facility to Lancaster, CA earlier this year. Paul builds his own chassis out of his new facility. PCM Motorsports maintains cars and serious races for the Irwindale Speedway or any track west of the Mississippi.
