SONOMA, California – It’s no surprise that off-road racers do extremely well on road courses because they know how to turn a car left and right. Something about those desert roads just clicks when drivers such as Robby Gordon set tire to asphalt and make that right hand turn. Eric Hardin, driver of the No. 5 Direct Shopping Network Chevrolet, is no exception when racing at Infineon Raceway’s 2.52-mile road course. Hardin who started his career in the dirt is anticipating success this weekend at the Bennett Lane Winery 200 presented by Supercuts.
“I love Infineon because of the track layout and I feel very comfortable racing road courses.” Hardin said. “I can usually find a good rhythm and build momentum on it.”
Hardin will be racing against some Sprint Cup drivers such as PJ Jones and Kenny Schrader who will also be competing in the Sprint Cup race on Sunday at Infineon Raceway. This is the second and last time that the Sprint Cup Series competes the same weekend and track as the Camping World Series.
“I love running with the Cup guys.” Said Hardin. “I learn a lot from them about the different lines and strategies they use.”
This is the second to last race scheduled on Team Hardin’s calendar due to lack of funds. Team Hardin Racing hopes to turn some attention their way this weekend in hopes of attracting more sponsors to keep them racing this season.
“It’s been tough this season racing with tight budgets, but we’ve made it this far and hopefully we’ll be able to find a company looking to market with us and gain business for them while allowing us to race at the same time.” Said Justin Holechek, crew chief of the No. 5 Direct Shopping Network Chevrolet.
The green flag drops at 12:30 pm PST and will be aired on HDNet with enhanced replays on SPEED Channel on July 7, at 9:00 am PST.
